It’s a reason White/BB are having trouble, schematically USF is better suited for QB’s like Flowers, Grothe and Daniels. With the athletes we can recruit it’s better if we get them in to space and use their speed and have a qb who is a serious threat to run. If you are going to do read option the whole game might as well get a qb who can make the defense pay .

You also forgot the part about those two throwing a lot of picks. Not only do they need to be mobile, but protect the ball

This what made Flowers so good was his decision making ability. Grothe and Daniels threw as many interceptions as touchdowns

Yeah a mobile qb, that protects the ball and is very competitive in nature is  what we need at QB.

Not to say BB can't work but this offense is complete junk.  I can't remember when we last ran some basic offensive plays like a screen or some slants pass or an end around.

gilbert almost got Barnett killed late in the game on that QB run. those are not plays suited for his strengths.

since our qb doesn't pass much just rotate them all and keep them fresh so they can run

Q was a great in the GCO. Played like the second coming of M. Vick

Yes he was smart with the ball and when it came crunch time he was super competitive and would put the team on shoulder....why that is another trait to a good college qb.

Tebow was also like that.

These kind of QB’s come a dime a dozen in Florida. Just go recruit the 5’10” Qb’s that run the spread at all the local high schools  that all of the big P5 schools are trying to recruit to play a different position. Strong said himself he recruited Flowers to play defense.

Look at King at Houston he was at WR, we don’t need to worry about developing a QB to take snaps at the next level, we need a system QB that will be a great colleg player

I agree, but we seem to hire coaches who like to make our QBs pocket passers (Holtz, Taggart first 2.5 years, Strong/Gilbert).

Its time we hire a coach who we know will use our FL speed from the start.
