So I don't care about being a one way away game. Let's schedule money games against the P5, go to their house, have a great game televised, take their money, eat their lunch and come home with a victory.

We need a lot more of the kind of games we had last night and that means quality opponents and as better than the rest of the G5 the AAC is we aren't consistently getting quality games that entertain.

We're back to where we started.  This program ain't going anywhere beating up on the AAC.  Counting on AAC to become "P6"? Ha.

We need to play real teams like we did in the past.  Do both, make everyone happy.  But we have to play games that matter out of conference because the games in conference are boring and predictable.  And, it's not a good conference.

Agree 100% this is the only way to do it. We will win our share of these games.

Problem is those P5 teams are going to start avoiding the top teams of the American.  They have no incentive to play us.  If they don't play us they still have a shot to go to the playoffs but if they do theres a chance they lose.  After the Houston season last few years, these teams are going to avoid us like the plague.  (See Michigan St and Wisconsin vs US).  Its a lose lose situation.  Even Harlan had a tweet about him trying to schedule top teams for us and them ducking us.

Here's a problem with that. If you were a P5 team and you knew that an AAC needs to schedule P5 teams wouldn't you lower your payout to them?  With the travel expenses, it might actually cost us money to attend some of these games.  Also, it's already been proven that a neutral site P5 v P5 game early in the season doesn't hurt playoff aspirations and gives them a huge payday.

To summarize, the difficulty for us to schedule a good P5 team are:

  • We're not a, "quality" loss and having a crappy schedule doesn't hurt if they go undefeated (see Wisconsin)
  • The P5 make more money in a neutral site game against a top P5
  • Pay outs to us are likely going to be lower, because we need them, more than they need us.

On top of this, we'd have to play 4 P5 teams OOC and 2 would have to be in the top 15 to even have a shot.

Face it, this is out lot in life unless the rules change, the AAC is look at as a power conference, or we get into a P5 conference.

What makes you think we can beat good P5 teams when we can't beat Houston and ucf?

Well, since only two teams in the FBS are undefeated right now and some of the top teams got beaten by Iowa, Pitt, Syracuse, etc.
