This idea was posted as a comment on another site in an article about fan attendance.  Someone mentioned USF needs to add more tradition to the games and brought up that USF should fire a military cannon after scores.  This is an excellent idea and would be a great tradition that would also show off our ROTC program.  USF could also get MacDill involved.  From the USF website:

USF is one of only 50 campuses in the Nation that hosts ROTC programs from all of the nation's Armed Services (Army, Marine Corps, Navy, and Air Force).

It would be great to start this at the Salute to Service game this year.

Thoughts?

I like the idea of a cannon.  In a strange coincidence, it JUST so happens we HAVE a cannon at our stadium!  How convenient is that?!   :stirpot:

Rayjay's is recorded, not real, right?

Rutgers has a real cannon, not so interested in doing what they do...

The Bucs already do that and so does Rutgers so I do not like the idea personally.

On a side note what ever happened to those painted and bedazzled towel wearing students?  They used to run around the stadium at the end of the game high fiving everyone.

Pretty sure Ray Jay's is real, too.  A replica, but real.

The ones they used to play at our games were recorded because the blast came from over our heads in the SW corner of the stadium ....

“This is not a broken football program by any means. It just needs to be united, to get everybody on the same page, share that same vision, and really to have that standard - best is the standard.”

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
