Maybe he'll Save Tonight, even if not.

Or Neneh Cherry, and line up in a Buffalo Stance.

Started my HS career there. Not often you see talent come out of OHS, we were perpetually bad and used to get housed by the Glades Centrals and Pahokees of the world (but I did get to see some really good players beat us).

Kid could be special.

Okeechobee senior athlete Jajuan Cherry has been invited to the Offense-Defense All-American Bowl.

Cherry, a 5-foot-8, 170-pounder, is No. 5 on the TCPalm Super 11 and committed to the University of South Florida.

“It’s well deserved,” Okeechobee coach Chris Branham said. “He’s had a great season and a great career. After the first game of the Kickoff Classic, I called him out for a couple plays off and since that moment he’s been determined to make sure that no one sees him at less than his best. He’s playing his heart out and shown an extreme determination to finish as strong as he’s started. I’m proud of him.”

Okeechobee has used Cherry in several positions this season, including running back, wide receiver, safety, cornerback, linebacker and defensive end. He’s scored seven offensive touchdowns in the past three games – including three against Eau Gallie last week.

Former Okeechobee star running back Lonnie Pryor played in the Offense-Defense All-American Game in 2008. The last area player to play in the national all-star game was former Fort Pierce Central offensive lineman Stewart Reese after the 2015 season.

The 27th Offense-Defense All-American Bowl is Dec. 30 in New Orleans.

This guy I'm most excited about in the class. Really pops off the tape.

"For me, I never considered it that way (as a stepping stone), honestly. When I was offered the head job at South Florida, and I'm sincere about this, I never thought I would ever go anywhere."

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
