Hate to say it, but if we're really going to buck for a P5 spot and play/recruit with the big programs, I think we need to bring a proven name brand.

Like Rutgers basketball? As little as I think current states of the football programs have to do with expansion, basketball has less ...

Somewhere less than football, sure, but not irrelevant to the discussion. Now Cricket & Golf, mind you...

Really I don't know what has the most bearing beyond bringing in $$, so you'd have to think the two sports with the highest potential for that are football & MBB. In our case, WBB should be hoisted up in the advertising.

It's cool, we already knew you were crazy anyway.

I like Bartow, but living & breathing basketball doesn't necessarily gain you the respect from players/families as a recruiter or coach. If he can somehow create a winner, then that respect comes quickly and maybe he'd be okay. But normally it would take a while for a relative no-name coach to build a team with enough talent to get enough wins & gain national recognition. Hate to say it, but if we're really going to buck for a P5 spot and play/recruit with the big programs, I think we need to bring a proven name brand. Now, whether or not we can get that...

Hey, if we can get Rick Pittino, let's get him.  But that is unlikely.  Bartow can flat out coach.  I'll take that right now over what we've seen the last two and half years.

I wonder if his comment on "terribly critical and use bad language" is a shot at former COA.

Or just keeping with today's softness.

He also coached for Bobby Knight.

I doubt there are many players at their highest level that haven't been cursed out at some point in time. Obviously there are some coaches that absolutely never curse but my guess is that it's not a big percentage.

I have only coached as high as high school varsity but I have never cursed at a player.   I have cursed at a ref. I have been ejected. :furious3:

I'd like us to have a competent coach that can teach fundamentals of basketball. That's our first need.  We don't need to go get an unproven potential head coach from some coaching tree and pay them $3-5 million to learn on the job on our time and our dime.

I only pull that out after I call him a son of a motherlesss goat.

Actually, I get more Techs by questioning a bad ref than I do for language or behavior.

Not a big cusser.

But I should get
