I thought the story of the tv deal was this...

The president of Pitt convinced the other presidents to turn down the ESPN deal because there was a bigger deal out there which just wasn't true.  What was unknown was if he knew they and Cuse were out the door at the time and were just helping ESPN take the deal off the table knowing they'd be paying too much without those 2 teams.
