Quarterback Quinton Flowers (Miami) was named the conference’s Offensive Player of The Week, earning the honor for the second time this season. Linebacker Auggie Sanchez (St. Petersburg) was named to the conference weekly honor roll. Flowers was spectacular Saturday as he produced 370 total yards and a career-high tying five touchdowns, often in mind-bending fashion. His 54-yard touchdown run to open the scoring for USF was featured at No. 5 on ESPN SportsCenter’s Top Plays of the Day. He added plenty more dazzling runs on the day to post a team-high 157 yards rushing and three touchdowns on the ground. Flowers was also prolific through the air, passing for 213 yards and a pair of touchdowns as he hit wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling (St. Petersburg) for a 26-yard score and tight end Mitchell Wilcox (Tarpon Springs) for a 29-yard score in the game. Flowers led USF to 529 total yards and a season-best 316 rushing yards against a UConn defense that entered the game ranked No. 11 in the nation giving up just 98.8 rushing yards per game. Meanwhile, Sanchez posted a career-day in leading a USF defense that posted season highs with five sacks and 9.0 tackles for loss while holding UConn to just 72 yards rushing. Sanchez led USF with 11 tackles and a career-best three sacks. He now ranks second in The American in tackles (9.3 tpg), third in sacks (6), and fourth in tackles for loss (8.0). USF will look to extend its best-ever conference start on Friday when the Bulls travel to Philadelphia, Pa. for a nationally televised, Friday night clash vs. Temple. The game is set for a 7:00 p.m. kickoff on ESPN. Or should I say calling crad? It honestly has always been a part of our Athletics Department. Anyone remember the misspellings of players' names on their Senior Awards? And any official media guide through the years has always contained multiple calling crads. It's our culture...get it out fast and make sure it looks good.
