However they are close to really having this offense in gear. You're right it is much more enjoyable watching this team knowing that at least they have a chance to move the ball 1. Way to many drops and mistakes against Navy.2. The tight end dropped a perfect pass in the first half that would have put the Bulls up by Two scores.3. QF going out of bounds short of the first down and stoping a drive. 3. Mental lapses on D letting Navy convert several long third downs4. NOT ENOUGH passes on first down5. Missed FGthey were able to overcome some of these mistakes in other games against lesser opponents However they can't do that against better teams as it will bite them in the Butt just like at Navy and Memphis Two missed FGs, to nitpick (sigh). Those mistakes are mostly correctable, with the mental gaffes being my only real concern for this team. Can't lose your mind against a disciplined opponent like Navy. We gotta improve there. Guest
Current offensive rankings.73rd in total offense at 391 ypg. http://www.ncaa.com/stats/football/fbs/current/team/21/p240th in passing efficiency. http://www.ncaa.com/stats/football/fbs/current/team/465Only 107th in passing yards per game. http://www.ncaa.com/stats/football/fbs/current/team/25/p338th in yards per completion. http://www.ncaa.com/stats/football/fbs/current/team/741Currently 23rd in rushing yards per game. http://www.ncaa.com/stats/football/fbs/current/team/2371st at 28.4 ppg. http://www.ncaa.com/stats/football/fbs/current/team/27/p2I don't know the QBR. However, these are all significantly better than the last 2 years. The biggest thing we are missing is consistency in execution (drops). So before the season started, I posted that I thought USF would improve on offense by 40-50 positions... and I was LAUGHED AT ... based on the above, USF went from 118 to 73... that's an improvement of 45 positions... and we have some games that could let us move up to 68 or higher... although Temple will hold us down, the other three have porous defenses. Guest
The offense is getting better but when you have been so bad there is plenty of room for improvement. It will be interesting to see where the plateau for this offense is - are we seeing it now or can they continue grow and become more explosive? If the WRs catch the passes they are dropping now, it could be even more explosive.. But if they keep dropping, CWT will likely just run it and we all know what happens when we get one-dimensional...Hoping we had some killer focus on fundamentals, and some accelerated healing in the backfield over the week. Go Bulls!
