Nooooooo!!!!!! It would not surprise me if it was grade-related. That's been the knock on the kid since HS, apparently.

Just another excuse for why our MBB team will not play up to expectations.

Was it he or Santos that was the Fr recruit that it took a long time for his name to appear on the roster?

Da Silva, who attended Jacksonville's Arlington Country Day School for his senior year of high school, is from Brazil; the uncommon path of spending all but one year of high school outside the United States and then finishing at a U.S. school is a risky gamble that often leads to eligibility issues.

While most South Florida Bulls basketball players joined the team in the summer to train ahead of the 2015-2016 season, Da Silva, who was expected to provide helpful front court depth, was notably absent. He was eventually cleared to enroll at USF but he did not meet the requirements needed for the NCAA Eligibility Center to allow him to play with the Bulls this season.

Though he is still ineligible to play for Florida this season, the 6-foot-8 Da Silva will do his best to make his presence felt in practice. Da Silva's situation recalls that of Florida guard Brandone Francis and Oklahoma power forward Dante Buford; two players who also attended Arlington Country Day School and missed the 2014-2015 season after the NCAA ruled them ineligible.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
