In order to maintain FBS stauts, a school must have at least an average of 15,000 in attendance one out of two years. Could this seriously become an issue at one of the largest schools in the country? Didn't we only have 18,000 for the home opener?

Is this based on REAL attendance or on the so-called ANNOUNCED (exaggerated) attendance?

Either way, I do see it as worrisome.

Announced, and no chance.

Actually it is paid, but students count as paid. So you have to take out comps. We are in 0 danger, so no need to worry.

Yup, based on announced attendance. As long as we stay above that watermark we're fine. It's based on season ticket sales, which are already bought plus the student attendance. It will be difficult  but I"m not panicking yet, especially if we can keep people interested with a win or two in October against UConn and SMU.

If FAU and FIU are still FBS, this is a non-issue for us ...

I remember reading an article about some program that had been averaging under 8,000 actual fans per game for years and was in no real danger.  It's a bylaw, but not enforced.  It's easy to distribute 15,000 tickets a game

Years ago Troy State (now just Troy)  had a rich booster buy thousands of tickets just to pump up the numbers. I think the threshold for them to count is 50% of full price or more.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
