You can guess where this is going.  http://www.msn.com/en-us/money/savingandinvesting/the-highest-paid-public-employee-in-every-state/ar-AAehW7S?li=AAa0dzB&ocid=mailsignout#image=AAebyli|1

Mods, not sure if this should be moved since it will be a discussion about football/basketball coaches salaries.  Put it where you like.

I think the NCAA should cap it, that would promote parity more than a lot of their rules.

Capping salaries promotes parity, how?

What about cost of living? How about use of a car? Housing? Cell phones? What about travel budget for recruiting? Does the head coach at Wyoming get the same money as one in Florida? Also, can't have one coach get his own radio show for money and another not get one. Are those capped? How about other endorsement deals? Does this count for apparel deals? Do Under Armour and Nike have to cap their payouts too?

the government is good about selling stupid

and the suckers(taxpayers) buy it

of course coaches salaries should be capped if kids arent sharing in the profits

the money should go back to the taxpayers

This is a problem with Athletics and Colleges... The two should be partitioned.

Run athletics as a separate business.

Don't the Kanigits kind of do this with their UCFAA, or whatever it's called?

Even if you capped it, a lot of the funds would just go to nicer facilities etc. Alabama and such would still be the kings.

That being said, article is misleading, majority of those salaries are paid by athletic revenue, sponsorships, and boosters. Money that wouldn't exist without the sport

Well spoken. Earn what you can earn. It's freedom.

But with that said, while it is set by the market, these contracts allow too much money upfront despite results.

Free market. Get what you can get and don't begrudge others because you don't get yours.

Free market has nothing to do with College Athletics
