I hope we run a lot of Read Option.

It was very effective for us with Daniels and grothe running it 10-12 times per game. I hope Flowers runs it 20+ times per game this year.

I hope we run a lot of read option as well, but triple option is a completely different story.

I agree. If we had the lineman to run a triple, it would work great with our skill payers.

The read option and quick passing should work just fine and it's up to those guys on the field to make plays.

Honestly we have an extremely athletic qb in Flowers, an extremely athletic set of rbs (Mack and D'Ernest),

A year and a half ago when GEOGIA SOUTHERN beat Florida they didnt complete ONE PASS (WHICH IS WHAT OUR OFFENSE LOOKS LIKE) but they beat Florida 26-20. I feel if we implemented some of their offense we could at least put points on the board right away.

What do you think? Sounds practical and like it could work here and work well

It's hard to recruit Florida for an offensive line required to run the triple option.  Taggart has been trying to recruit those offensive lineman for the last two years (for his run heavy scheme) and it just hasn't happened. You can run a WR at QB in the triple option, but it's all based off of 5 guys that can create great 'push

Heres the thing, what youre saying sounds right on paper but in reality you honestly think GEORGIA SOUTHERN a no name school had recruited better players for their line than FLORIDA?

Florida gets the best athletes in the country year in and year out.

So no I dont buy that, POINT IS IF GEORGIA SOUTHERN CAN PUT TOGETHER THAT SYSTEM WE CAN TOO.

Before you go all crazy caps on me, I'm trying to tell you that you aren't looking for the best athletes on the O-Line.  You are looking for 300+ lbs offensive line that can dominate the line of scrimmage.  In fact, they don't have to be quick and athletic, because they are literally just pushing forward.  Those offenses throw about 15 times a game, so they don't need to the same pass protections skills.

Those offensive lineman, for one reason or another, generally reside north of florida or in the midwest region of the country.  You also would need to replace your entire offensive staff to the run that scheme.

Georgia Tech's starting offensive line this year is made up of 3 guys from georgia and 2 from Florida. Not sure where this lineman myth comes from.

didn't say anything about triple option. and they really aren't all that different. QB makes his read and either keeps it or gives it to a RB. triple option incorporates a FB.

Probably because we're not good at blocking.

Already talked about

Thread link

That was almost a year ago....... .....and besides im referencing the success had by georgia southern a school that gets no name recruits and their ability to run the system not Georgia Tech who can pull in top athletes. so its a different topic

Georgia Southern lost to Wofford, Samford and Furman that same year so I'm not sure how much stock we want to put in that fluke win over UF ...

Triple has many versions with most running the Wishbone approach and mostly taking snap under center.

Would never work here with our personnel.

I remember watching Devine and Washington play for N FT Myers when they ran the Wing T version.

Was very successful when you play teams that have a tough time tackling or lineman that can't move laterally.

Excited to see this new spread attack live and at game seed against the Rattlers.

not neccessarily a great source but from wiki

In recent years, as spread offenses have become popular, many teams have begun to run variations of the triple option with the quarterback in the shotgun.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triple_option

honestly a triple option just means a QB can either keep the ball or hand it to one of two other options. doesn't matter the formation or personnel.

the read option we used in the past had generally one option but sometimes two.

I'm not suggesting we run it out of the wishbone or even the i-formation(from beneath center). Just that we run the read option a lot this year (out of the shotgun with a single back)

I was agreeing with you and was referencing the title of the thread, not saying that you said anything about the triple option.

Oh and the read option and triple option are very different.  One is a play incorporated into a spread playbook and the other is philosophy that encompasses an entire playbook.
