Saw a familiar name in the article. Talk about going from bad to worse ...

"...feels less like the inevitable cycle of rebuilding and rebounding and more like the beginning of a prolonged trip into the wilderness."

"...feels less like the inevitable cycle of rebuilding and rebounding and more like the beginning of a prolonged trip into the wilderness."

The ironic part is that USM didn't need to rebuild or go thru any cycle...as USM Leaders thought it would be a good idea to fire Coach Jeff Bower after 14 straight winning seasons.

USM once had a solid, steady program...but they threw that all away to hire a gun slinger who wanted to take short cuts to win in the short term and bolt to a P5 program..while sacrificing the future of the team.

Be careful what you wish for...

Karma for Bower ....   "I'd much rather concern ourselves not with quantity but with quality," Bower said in 1999, two months before league presidents voted to delay USF's football membership until 2003.

Ironic also that both programs had success but moved HC out of way because they wanted more.  And look at them now...
