  1. USF is just killing time until Masiello completes his degree.
  2. In the greater scheme of the purpose of a university, which is not to provide a farm league for the NFL & NBA, or to provide sports entertainment I really don't give a **** if athletics is screwed up beyond repair or not.
  3. Football season can't start soon enough. Glad I'm not a basketball fan.
  4. They bought their plane tickets. They knew what they were getting into... I say, let em crash! This board needs more "Airplane" quotes. Thank you sir. Looks like our administration picked a bad day to stop sniffing glue... You may not have a degree Masiello but have you ever been in a....in a Turkish prison?
  5. So $100k per contract year. I'm guessing as a lump sum but not really a huge hurdle if another team wants him.
  6. Not surprisingly,it's not a good question from the Big Douche. USF had no choice in the matter ... Purposefully disingenuous I'm sure.
  7. "If it's accurate, I'm shocked by it," Pitino said. "I had no idea. I left the previous year and he was on track to graduate." Louisville athletic director Tom Jurich told ESPN.com that he was unaware that Masiello had not graduated from Kentucky. "I knew (Coach) Rick (Pitino) was comfortable with him," Jurich said. "He played for Rick and Rick knew all about his background."
  8. In my opinion Masiello is the one looking bad, the search firm didn't cover themselves with glory either. I've actually vetted employees before and it was surprislngly easy, at least when I did it, to verify graduation. I called the registrar's office for every applicant we were going to make an offer to, gave their name, social and without even questioning me they said yea or nay(it was always yea).
  9. Should have earned it before they inked a deal, though. Search firm looks sloppy here. I agree. Background and degree check should have been done before a contract.
  10. That sounds like a lot of work, and he doesn't seem to be fond of work. Another year at USF and he'd have been down to 120 lbs.
  11. Roger Goodell visited Disney late last year to discuss how to improve fan experience in stadiums. It is an issue even with the NFL. One they are gravely concerned about. It isn't a win/loss issue so much as a quality of experience issue. People are choosing to stay home and be able to see the game much more clearly on their televisions than go to a stadium and not see the game anywhere near as well. The younger generation is used to multi-tasking and handling multiple inputs via several devices at once. A plain old football game in the stadium doesn't do it for them.
  12. I'm happy because it shows Coach T and staff are willing to do the work to get recruits. A huge improvement over the previous regime. Some of these guys will hit, some of them will miss but you don't get any hits when you're hitting the little white ball around the golf course.
  13. The more I hear about this guy the less I like him. Sooner I hear nothing about him the better.
  14. To get paid To officially surrender To come clean (been on retirement already) To save face (assuming there is a shoe to drop) Get something positive on the internets when people search his name Won't they also have cool gifts for him at all the away games during his Farewell Tour? LOL Yes, his "American" tour will certainly result in much swag, seeing that it's from our competitors. They may hate to see him go though...how dramatic. Can't wait for UCF to give him 4 military grade puncture proof tires!
  15. This NCAA issue is a distraction caused by UCF so we won't notice when they get the Big 12 invite next week!
  16. Email from the U USF Athletic Director Doug Woolard to Retire June 2015 University of South Florida System President Judy Genshaft and Athletic Director Doug Woolard announce his intent to retire at the end of his contract in June 2015. He will fulfill his current contract and complete several strategically important development projects, as well as assist in a succession plan and in the transition of a new director of athletics. A national search for a new athletic director will begin immediately. Woolard was named to his current position in May 2004 and in his tenure at USF he has led a number of initiatives and accomplishments that allowed the Bulls' athletics programs to gain national recognition, as well as play a leading role in the American Athletic Conference and previously the Big East. Woolard is currently the chair of the American Athletic Conference Athletic Directors, a member of the NCAA Leadership Council and is on the Division I Athletic Directors Board of Directors. “I have been truly blessed to enjoy a 40-year career in education and athletics. After Cherrie and I spent some great quality time with our family over the holidays, I have been visiting with the President for the last few weeks about initiating this plan,†Woolard said. “I appreciate the special partnership I’ve enjoyed with President Genshaft and I extend my heartfelt gratitude to all of the outstanding coaches, members of our administrative staff, generous donors, and most importantly, our wonderful student athletes. Cherrie and I will treasure our time at USF; we are Bulls for life!†During his tenure, USF’s student athletes reached new heights in academic achievement and the university’s athletics district was transformed with nearly $70 million in new or renovated facilities, including a $35.6 million renovation of the USF Sun Dome. USF athletics also produced substantial revenue growth that allowed the department to more than double its budget to $44 million. The new campus athletics district, completed in 2012, ranks among the nation’s most expansive facilities enhancements in the last 25 years. The project completed without use of university or state funds, included new football and basketball practice facilities; baseball, softball and soccer stadiums; a wellness and nutrition dining center and renovations to the USF Sun Dome, as well as current tennis and golf facilities. Under Woolard, USF saw its overall athletics NCAA’s Academic Progress Rate improve from 926 to 983 and both the men’s basketball and football programs made major gains. USF’s overall APR has improved each of the last seven years and the football team's APR ranked among the Top 25 of BCS conference schools in 2013. Woolard also oversaw revenue increases that saw the athletics budget more than double during his tenure, expanded television and radio coverage of the program and initiated a unique educational partnership with Apple, Inc. allowing student-athletes access to a Macbook Pro computer each semester. Additionally, Woolard has been engaged in involving USF with the Tampa Bay community to host numerous NCAA and Conference Championships, as well as assisting in positioning the Tampa Bay region for major college athletic championships including the Frozen Four and the 2017 college football championship. President Genshaft thanked Woolard for his assistance in the upcoming transition. “Doug has led USF Athletics with integrity and focus, as well as a deep commitment to our students, coaches and the entire USF community,†said President Genshaft. “He was instrumental in transforming our athletic district facilities and I want to thank Doug for his achievements in leading our program over these years. We’re very appreciative of his efforts on campus and his participation in the larger Tampa Bay community. We look forward to a bright future ahead.â€
