  1. I agree. Every team that hosts Cincy and UCLA this year should have a moment of silence to honor those players and their families. I'm sure we'll do something in two weeks to show our respect to Cincy.
  2. That's more impressive when you consider all there games are televised in high Def. We have fans that live within 20 minutes of RayJay that watch on espn3 rather than pay $10. Of course, that doesn't bother me. I'm thankful they still follow the team. It's just a shock when I hear about SEC fans. They're seriously drinking the coolaid.
  3. I wonder if we'll ever schedule FIU again. They dropped us off their schedule in 2009 on short notice to schedule a home and home with Rutgers. I think we were supposed to be playing FIU that game where Grothe tore up his knee. We had two FCS teams on our schedule that year because of FIU.
  4. What Ray Rice did in 2006 and 2007 redefined Rutgers Football. A monster who creates 1st downs. I couldn't believe he was a 2nd round pick. Coach T needs to find a RB just like that to redefine USF.
  5. I totally agree. But not just to beating name teams, USF became the hottest CFB story in the country for about 3 weeks in 2007 for good reason. Leavitt earned every bit of that.
  6. We'll know a lot more about our secondary after that game. Our DBs got torched last year. I just hope they don't give up the big plays and play well when backed up in the red zone.
  7. 95 Wins and 57 losses. 8 wins and 8 losses in Conf USA. 25 Wins and 26 losses in the Big East. Winning 62.5% of our games and going .500 in conf play sounds much better now than it did when Leavitt was here. But If we look closer at just Cinci, Rutgers, and Pitt games his record is something like 5 and 14 with no wins after 2007. He had no answer to those three schools. They just whooped him. After 2007, we all expected him to succeed in a way that Brian Kelly did and he didn't. Looking back the expectations seemed unfair. History will forget that Leavitt was owned by Kelly and Schiano and just remember that he won 62.5% of the time.
  8. Hell yea. Me too. Breakfast and Beer. Actually I'll probably put some jack daniels in my coffee to help get through the day.
  9. I hope we have an indoor practice facility by then. Too many practices get canceled or cut short from lightening. The theme of the second decade will be enduring adversity and how we battled through it or how it crushed us. All we know for sure is the identity of the program in 2016-2017 will be totally different from 2006. We've become just another program toward the bottom fighting to survive. I think Taggart will make it to 2017 and working for a new AD.
  10. Maybe you happened to miss the drive in the 3rd quarter where Bench went to McFarland at least three times? No, I saw them...and McFarland was running routes. All 15+ yard passes. I'm talking short gains that build positive yardage quickly and allow a struggling offense to gain confidence and 1st downs. I expected to see a lot of 7 yard pass completions this year. When I think of west coast offense I think of Brad Johnson when he was at his best with the redskins and the first year or two with the Bucs ('99 to 02' maybe) He had a year with the Skins where he threw for 3000 yards 7-10 yards at a time right down the field with a lot of 2-4 yard run plays mixed in. nothing flashy just moved the ball about 5 yards per play and don't do anything stupid like false starts or holding. that's what I expected as "boring" I thought we had way to many pass plays last night where bench went for the big play and that designed QB run where we lined up wide for a pass was terrible.
  11. I hope we don't hear, "embrace the suck" again. The preseason mantra was terrible. "DoSomething" should be out too.
  12. Nice to see that 2007 FAU footage. I wish we had Ben Williams this year. If I remember correctly he was a walk-on player.
  13. I just watched the replay of both Eveld's turnovers. On the fumble, that MSU D-lineman ran right past our Guard on the left side who didn't fan out enough and let him fly on by, didn't get a block on anybody, maybe touched the guy's sleeve, didn't even redirect him at all. Just blew right by and whacked our QB on his blind side. On the interception, Eveld was looking way up field and both Shaw and Epps each let a guy run free right past them to be open for a check down pass while their QB got sandwiched. I hope they watch a lot of film this week. FAU will blitz early and often against us.
  14. I hope he breaks off a few long runs against FAU. He took a lot of punishment yesterday.
  15. If They don't throw the ball to Price and McFarland out of that double TE formation, they might as well just put two extra O lineman in those spots to block for the running game. I thought this new offense would get the ball to some big bodies over the middle. I also thought our FB would carry a few more. If coach T wants to be boring and grind it out that's fine. I'm not sure yet what our Offensive identity is. I know it's one that lacks productivity and commits false starts on critical 2nd and 3rd downs.
  16. thats nice but the field refs were AAC yesterday. Really? Why would AAC refs work a BIG Ten stadium? That sucks because they weren't very good. Not saying that changed the outcome but for one they made a lot of late calls.
  17. I was expecting 1 some TFLs would be nice too.
  18. I believe this. I wish you were wrong but I can't think of any reason he'd stay if he's projected that high at season's end. He's not in the Darrell Scott and Carlton Mitchell category of players needing the extra year. Mitchell and Scott should come back to school and finish their degrees.
  19. That MSU O line, particularly the interior line played very dirty in the first half. They should've had 200 yards of penalties. The Refs should've watched the big screen between plays. They had Luke Sager by the throat all day and Chandler's helmet didn't just spontaneously pop off. Hands to the face was obvious.
  20. Greg deserves to be reporting sports on a national level. He's the only reason I look at twitter. I hope he has great success in his new endeavors and his following grows exponentially. He'll be missed and remembered here for a long time.
  21. MSU's DBs played physical and lined up tight. Eveld probably would've faired much better if he floated a few passes high toward the sideline for Davis and let him go up and get it. He had that nice catch for about 20 yards where he went up and got it. Why wouldn't they play tight and physical? They expected us to play very conservative and we did. Worse yet, our receivers appeared like they weren't expected the ball to be in the air a few times. That 1st dropped pass by Welch was the only time a noticed one of our guys running wide open. MSU's receivers very physical as well. They were pushing and knocking guys around all day on run plays. Same thing on special teams. Fidel Montgomery was really getting knocked around.
  22. Forte is back. We really needed him for depth. O line was better too with returning players.
