  1. Sounds the Big10 really screwed Rutgers and Maryland. And made the contracts secret!!!! ‘Unsustainable’: How Rutgers athletics quietly racked up $265M in debt WWW.NORTHJERSEY.COM This was the year Rutgers University athletics expected to be on firm... —- Additionally, a number of Rutgers officials have signed confidentiality and non-disclosure agreements with the Big Ten, including Holloway, Hobbs and Gower. Lesniak, a staunch supporter of Rutgers athletics, said any contract with a state university should be available for the public to see. He had been behind the bill that gave Rutgers $25 million in tax credits for new buildings, and his foundation paid for a study highlighting the benefits of joining the Big Ten. “We're putting taxpayer dollars into this,” he said. “We should have access to the contract.” A former member of Maryland’s governing body protested that school’s entrance into the Big Ten because of the secrecy. He said that board members were not given details about the agreement with the conference, including Maryland’s loans from the Big Ten, which tax records show have ballooned to more than $113 million. —-
  2. It’s about football ratings and average viewership. FSU has a much more viewers and fans. Certainly USF would pick up a ton of viewers with a big 10 schedule, but other big 10 fans would have less enthusiasm, and it wouldn’t be as many as FSU would bring. There is a pecking order. Big10 and SEC at the top. Their members don’t leave. They poach from one level below, which is the PAC, ACC, and Big12. Second tier is ACC, Big12, and PAC. Member schools jump ship to the Big10 or SEC if they can. These 3 poach from the G5 conferences, the AAC. Last is the AAC and other group of 5 conferences. Their member schools jump ship. The Big10 and the SEC are not going to reach down the G5 schools like USF. The current G5 are the rejects from the days of the Big East.
  3. FSU and the new conference still have to figure out a way around the ACC grant of rights.
  4. Big 12 is not much better than the AAC. It’s also a bunch of misfit rejects. Any school that can has fled the big 12. That’s why they’re backfilling with AAC schools in the first place.
  5. How do we stack up against FSU now? I’ve believe for a long time they are overrated academically and now we are both AAU and preeminent. When will USF pass FSU in public perception?
  6. A lot of patents are worthless.
  7. 35k is a good number. Ten years ago I thought 40k would be good for and OCS. Since then college football attendance has been declining, and USFs draw has declined as well. 35k is plenty. If we ever become a winning program again, the scarcity might increase the perceived demand.
  8. Wow… 2036… Bold prediction there. It’s far enough into the future for everyone to forget it was ever made. Only 13 more years guys! Hang in there! There is still hope for USF to rejoin a good conference before my unborn children enroll.
  9. The stadium will help build a fanbase out of the students. That’s why we need it.
  10. We’ve been a lower tier program since the Big East split up. We are irrelevant in CFB. Thinking a coach would choose USF over any P5 is a delusion.
  11. Can’t be worse than Scott. I’m hopeful. Coaches with HC experience don’t always pan out either. Taggart nearly failed until by some miracle he opened up to change. Charlie Strong failed, Skip Holtz failed, At other levels, Scott Frost, Kevin Sumlin, Willie Taggart, Tom Herman, all had success at one stop but failed at the next despite their head coaching experience. Coaching is a profession full of highs and lows, coaching hires are unpredictable. We just have to hope a stop at USF is a successful one for whoever we hire.
  12. I think a retread HC would have been worse. Top offense from the SEC, I think it could be a lot worse. Tennessee program was a dump in the SEC until this year.
  13. I believe the accusations against Leavitt were false. I didn’t agree with firing him. I loved his attitude and energy. He coached up many defensive players to the NFL. USF should have given him everything he asked for. USF had one of the longest bowl streaks in the country, even with the seeming 8 win plateau.
  14. Few coaches would choose USF over Colorado. if you haven’t noticed, we aren’t relevant, the AAC isn’t relevant. The PAC12 is.
  15. I am glad we don’t have Tom Herman. Manny Diaz would also not be a good hire in my opinion. He was pretty terrible at Miami. Would really prefer someone who did more with less than the opposite.
  16. When is the announcement… why hasn’t a time been given yet for the reveal?
  17. He’s got a lot of head coaching experience. WKU USF Oregon FSU FAU
  18. Did he cost us the game or did he put us in the position to win? who put us down 28-0? that person probably cost us the game.
  19. Can a coach do any worse? does it even matter who the new guy is?
