  1. He's 6 ft 4 and 270 pounds, and doesn't have any other offers? All that tells me is that he isn't very good. With his GPA, the kid could probably play IVY league ball. Hopefully it works out for him. Coach T did it the only way he could, honestly.
  2. Stopped watching at 17-3. No coming back from that against this UofL team.
  3. Western Kentucky only lost to Alabama 35-0..... Just sayin.
  4. And they probably could have already had this if they didn't panic and end up adding Tulane and Memphis as all sports members.
  5. So enlighten us to his thought process ... Never mind .... Just read the Premium article where he explains his decision and nothing there corroborates that our staff "lost" him. Still think the old staff didn't play a role in him choosing Minnesota? All it took was a few days of Taggart in his ear and he was sold.
  6. There will be a couple thousand there at most. Farrrrrrrrrr far away from sold out.
  7. Meh, I graduate in the Spring and I know potentially a dozen or so kids that live at home with their parents and commute to usf. I took 2 night classes this semester and there were usually 3-4 people over the age of 30 in those classes, and that's not factoring in the younger people who may still live at home. As others have said, it's part of the nature of being in a big city. Spouses go back to school, people from Macdill use the GI bill, and others just don't want to leave home and they get to save money. Nothing wrong with any of the scenarios, and we can't just deny them (assuming they are qualified) just because we want to be less "commuter-like". Schools like fsu and UF have plenty of commuters, but those commuters usually don't live at home and are first time in college 18-21 year olds, not adults going to night school. Also, another reason it's seen as a commuter school is because the area isn't walkable at all. No bars in walking distance, restaurants are a few traffic lights away, and it's practically suicide to ride your bike along fletcher or fowler. Students that like to live on campus are forced into their cars to go anywhere. It's a sprawling campus in a sprawled out city. Its an Urban Planning issue and a mindset that goes far beyond what USF can control. Btw, I lived on campus my first 2 years and for the past 2 have lived across the street on 50th street.
  8. It works for Notre Dame....I think we're a perfect fit! (sarcasm, heavy sarcasm)
  9. The current wide receiver for the Bucs is 29 years old....the Jesuit kid is 16, maybe 17. Definitely not Bo's kid either. Vincent Jackson isn't exactly a unique name.
  10. Hopefully some lowered expectations (for the short future) will help everyone chill out next season. Personally, I think if USF is bowl eligible in '13 it will be a success.
  11. Lol. My response to that rant is so long it's not worth typing. Heres the cliffs... Last year we did lose in the Big East finals. Weren't near getting an at large. RPI near 70 and an awful SOS. That was also a team with a lot of experience, most of which won't be returning. Don't compare USF baseball to USF basketball. Ever. In any shape or form. Prado's job is in no way as difficult as Heath or Jose's. I know you may have been joking, but still not even close. Since we are on the subject, lets look at some differences... USF baseball...great area for recruits, cupcake conference, nice new facilities (signed his 3rd recruiting class since the stadium plans were announced and they haven't gone up in talent.) Pre Prado: 40 seasons total. 10 NCAA berths, all in a 20 year span with the first in 1982 and the last in 2002. Prado era: 6 seasons. 0 NCAA berths. Longest NCAA drought in the state besides FAMU. USF basketball... Florida basketball isn't anything special, top 2 or 3 conference in America every year. He has had a new arena for about 7 months now and has already put together the best recruiting class in USF history. Pre Heath: 36 seasons. 2 NCAA berths 7 NIT. Heath era: 5 seasons. 1 NCAA berth, 1 NIT. 73-91 overall, 52-39 in the last 3 years. Women's basketball...again, Florida talent isn't anything special, top 5 conference. Pre Jose: 3 winning seasons in the previous 24 years. Need I say more? Jose era: 12 years. 189-184 overall. 1 NCAA berth, 7 NIT, 1 NIT championship. Look, I want Prado to succeed. Hes a Tampa guy, with great history in the area. Im not asking for a title, all i want is USF baseball to at least get back to where it was in the 80s and 90s- a postseason team every few years. I'm just calling it how I (and a lot of baseball writers) see it.
  12. Exactly. If baseball made money for USF, Prado would have already been gone.
  13. I will be surprised if he is the coach at this time next year. I personally don't expect anything major out of this ball club. Hope they prove me wrong! As far as recruiting...this tells you all you need to know: USF signed 2 top 500 guys in our class this year, UCF signed 11 top 500 guys. Facilities are no longer an excuse. These are the classes that Prado is pulling after a few seasons in the new digs.
  14. I'm going to either FSU or UF next year. Will be interesting...
  15. Grothe and Daniels both had redshirt freshman season starts with coach not the staypuff marshmallow man and company, huge difference Floyd is a redshirt freshman, and was even an early enrollee. He's been on campus since January 2011.
  16. Last one as a student. Go Bulls!
  17. It gives somebody something to look forward to. In between the games against Syracuse and UConn, we'd have a top 15 WVU team or a "name team" from the conference come to town and it would pump up the fans and get us something to really get excited for. A match up against a big time team and a chance for an upset. You want to see your team be the best and to play the best competition. What's it going to be now? ECU, Temple, UConn...not many chances for upsets there. I guess the UCF game will be the game every other year, and that's because who doesn't like watching a train wreck in the stands, right? Ask UCF fans about playing those **** schools every year and knowing you're going to go watch your team beat Memphis by 75 for the 5th straight year. It's like the cupcake games every week. It gets boring and there's a reason they wanted out of that conference...so they could play better competition, which would lead to legitimizing the program and a boost in ticket sales over time. Instead all they get out of the deal is getting to play us.
  18. It's a shame to see Rudd mailing it in. He played well against Bradley but other than that has been lackluster. I know he doesn't like the school and probably doesn't like Heath much either, but you'd think he'd take advantage of his opportunity to get to that draft he was close to declaring for last season. He better bring it come Big East play. Or just next game would be a nice start.
  19. TALENT is there. Application of that talent, and the determination and motivation of that talent is what is lacking. This is the big east for crying out loud guys, we have the talent. I don't care if we are playing all freshman and sophomores, we have the talent on this roster to beat Ball St and Temple... If you truly believe those teams have more talent than us....welp. I think skip has lost the team. I heard a few players talking on campus a few weeks ago about an argument that happened in the locker room one day after practice...this was a segmented team the last few weeks. It showed.
  20. My dad already decided to drop his. Although, it has a lot to do with me graduating in the spring. Still though, that will be 4 less tickets accounted for in 114 and my spot in the student section as well. Before anyone says a single word, my dad has literally nothing to do with USF besides me attending school here. Yet, he has had season tickets for 4 seasons and makes the 2+ hour drive to nearly every home game each season. If only our actual alumni cared as much.
  21. Yeah longest drought in Florida besides FAMU. Our longest drought before this current streak was 3 seasons, which were sandwiched between appearances in 1997 and 2001. Most recent appearances for other schools and number of appearances by them since we made our last appearance in 02.... Florida State: 2012 (10) Miami: 2012 (10) Bethune Cookman: 2012 (9) Florida: 2012 (8) UCF: 2012 (3) Jacksonville: 2011 (5) Stetson: 2011 (5) FAU: 2010 (4) FIU: 2010 (1) UNF, FGCU, FAMU: none. Although FGCU and UNF have recently jumped up to D1. Let's look at the Big East since we started play in '06, including number of appearances since we've been in the conference. Louisville: 2012 (5) St Johns: 2012 (5) UConn: 2011 (2) Seton Hall: 2011 (1) Rutgers: 2007 (1) Notre Dame: 2006 (1) Doesn't everyone feel better now? Yeah neither do I...lol
  22. Didn't have time to stop for a piece but I was happy to see him out there really pounding the pavement. I see coach Heath all the time at Champions Choice and usually go shake his hand and say hi. Same goes for coach Kiefer, as theyre both very approachable guys. Heath should have dropped a line or two about our recruiting class although I guess that doesn't quite help attendance this year.
  23. Was going to write something pretty close to this... Conference Big mountain eastern USA is awful.
