  1. Great to see 3 of our road graders on the list - it has been tough for anyone to be successful at QB, since it seems like they have spent 50% of snaps since 2018 simply running for their lives
  2. Yes - Oveido CC was by far the best team we faced that year and there were fluke plays by both teams Momentum is a big factor in athletic success. My general point is that if a different coaching philosophy had been applied that season and we stormed into Oveido having steamrolled the previous 10 teams, then the outcome of that game may have been different Ofcourse this is all conjecture, since we are both discussing a game that happened 5 years ago and a coach who is on his third job since being fired by USF
  3. I respectfully disagree Looking back, my opinion as to the potential W/L record for 2017 is as follows: Anybody on TBP as head coach - 8-4 Any peewee or youth football coach - 9-3 (losses to UH, UCF, TT) Any high school football coach (regardless of experience or qualification) - 10-2 Any semi-competent D1 football coach - 11-1 (loss to UCF, win over TT) Any decent D1 football coach (top 40%) - undefeated regular season, conference championship over Memphis and Peach Bowl bid While CCS’ 10-2 record looks good on a resume, given that he had one of the best offenses ever at USF and played against a weak schedule, the 2017 result was a serious underachievement on his part
  4. I tried to capture the frame off the video - it looks like the contact was in the shoulder. Lejiste definitely had his head-up the whole time, so he did not spear Preston. If that hit occurred in 2022, the flag for targeting would have been thrown - it may have been reversed under review though
  5. Marshall’s sack with 3 minutes left in the 2009 FSU game was epic - it shutdown any final chance at a rally. That game in particular had several big defensive plays - including LeJiste laying the wood and forcing the fumble in the first qtr
  6. Good recruiting as well - CJL and his staff spotted a diamond in Selvie, where everyone else saw a rock. CJL’s staff was the best that we have had with digging into the 3rd and 4th layers of recruiting to find the guys overlooked by the bigger programs. Then, they put those guys into positions (at least on defense) where they could be successful
  7. Amazing that nobody has worn 95 since 2016 - Matos certainty has some big shoes to fill (assuming that he makes the final roster for the fall)
  8. Weaver has the speed and agility to make guys miss in the open field, so all he really needs is a OC that can get him into space, then a semi decent passer to deliver the ball - assuming that the line can do some rudimentary blocking, the GB to XW could be electric this season. Also, I wonder where Carton Mitchell would have been drafted if he stayed at least another year
  9. Ask and ye shall receive The Voodoo Five Eulogies: USF Football vs. UConn, 2005 - The Daily Stampede As I said, 17 years is not enough time
  10. I am wondering about the rationale behind the 3 votes for Chuckles - about the only thing that he seemed to work on were his excuses proffered during the post game press conferences
  11. Game vs FSU still in a lightning delay - expected start is now 3:30
  12. About the only worthwhile part of that story from the Athletic is the following quote - "Because I learned that when I was a kid, if you did, the old man slapped me upside the head. Maybe someone should have slapped (Saban).”
  13. Gods come pretty cheap nowadays, don’t they? I mean, you become one by putting a leather ball through an iron hoop. And I hate to tell you this . . . but it’s only a game
  14. Marginally better than Willie’s pink turnover backpack at FSU
  15. Neck and neck with Houston, that was a monster anchor leg by USF I am a bit surprised USF was not flagged in the last 50 or so meters, since the USF runner appears to cutoff Houston and the two runners bumped (seemed to affect the Houston Runner’s cadence)
  16. Pretty impressive hustle play for a DE, considering Reaves first rushed the QB, then runs down the play 5 or so yards downfield to strip the ball
  17. 'he's an idiot, he should be fired. I can't believe these stupid fools don't know any better than this. Or why are they playing that quarterback'." Are we sure that Mack Brown was not on TBP instead of the UNC sites?
  18. Between Battie, Mangham, Joyner, Weaver, Horn and now Bohanon, we have some real speed and agility in the offensive skill positions I am looking forward to Trickett getting these guys the ball in space, so that they can make plays (basically, running the spread offense that eluded Charlie Weis Jr)
  19. One free unfettered post for all contributing members to this thread - redeemable on Nov 12, 2022 from 1-1:15 AM EST
  20. To be fair, your comments, along with mine and others, were based on him coming in with just the one year This all makes a bit more sense with him having two years at USF
  21. I guess this settles who the starter will be - I can’t see him coming here to be a backup With Bohanan’s two years, I wonder if Timmy will redshirt. That would give him a good shot at 2024, with 2 years of eligibility
  22. My thoughts exactly - this guy does not seem to be Heisman Material, so why mess with team chemistry
  23. Or Courtney Denson Or Steven Bench Or Cade Fortin Or Noah Johnson . . .
