  1. Factor E. is a catch-all that gives total discretion to the powers that be on close cases Can anyone imagine a scenario where an aac team makes the playoff and it isn't a close case
  2. So any evidence here? Other than P5 hyperbole? LOL The BC AD that said ESPN told them what to do SEC Network Longhorn Network "ACC on ESPN" Sorry, I only had ten seconds
  3. Now no network loves AAC and is committed to its success. I actually think ESPN along with its B5 business partners (lets call them what they are) are committed to the AAC's failure. AAC is a junk stock already and it has barely been a year. . . . . . . this has been even faster than my dour predictions.
  4. You were adamant that AAC needed to reject offers (if they existed) from NBCSN, Fox1 and CBS Sports for the exposure of the ESPN brand. You had very strong feelings about the inferiority of CBS Sports and the like. How are you taking today's news? Do you think we're screwed now that we are on one of the networks you thought sucked?
  5. My recollection is that ESPN reserved the rights to show our games on other networks if they (ESPN) could not fulfill its obligations to the AAC. So does ESPN pay CBS Sports to show these games or does CBS Sports pay to buy these games from ESPN? I'll be festy if I learn ESPN lowballed the AAC and then sold our games (perhaps for a profit?). But I'll be demoralized if I learn that ESPN is actually paying to make AAC and USF go away.
  6. Great .... Then maybe you need to hook up with the "we should go Independent" guy. He could probably use the company. I laugh that you are actually a moderator responsible for growing Brad's business idea.
  7. There ain't a horse that can't be rode and a cowboy that can't be throw'd. Now lets find the person or people to reverse the stagnation within USF athletics and make us the number one athletics program in the country.
  8. I grew up in Texas. Stuff like this reminds me how smug Texans are. Look at what the AD says about U. of Chicago, "And hey, a lot of parents want to send their kids there." He speaks as if U. of Chicago is a barber college and not one of the top colleges in the country.
  9. It COSTS tons of money to have these programs. Very few schools even make money on athletics, most lose a lot. Title IX means schools have to fund all the non-revenue sports as well with all the same perks. It's easy to throw the "billions$$" term around, but the vast majority of the schools aren't in the black. Dude. please. The entire system has gone from it being something for the students to chasing the almighty dollar. The U.S. is the only country in the world that done this to college sports. If some can't afford the chase, they need to abandon it. But by basing the entire system on basically FREE labor, its a joke. And btw, when the schools get paid for televised rights, that's using their likeness. Its on TV. You are spot on.
  10. Sounds like a terrific guy. I truly hope he lands on his feet. If he is as effective as some on here let on, he'll come up smelling like a rose.
  11. We shouldn't blame others for USF's lack of coverage. I hope Harlan doesn't blame others. Let's own this mess and fix it.
  12. Losing media coverage was just one of the byproducts of the CRIPPLING, DEBILITATING, PROGRAM-DESTROYING blow that was conference downsizing. I fear it will only get worse.
  13. What was your grandfather trying to get you to confess to when he gave you that advice?
  14. Bitterness at O'leary is embarrassing. . . . . . . give the guy his due. . . . . . . . . . he built a PROGRAM over there and will apparently have the last laugh. This guy ate our lunch, plain and simple. In ten years at UCF, O'Leary won 3 championships in two conferences and also won a BCS game. Right now, their team's performance and fan support is better than ours in every important metric. The linked article mentions that a UCF assistant TURNED DOWN the HC job at UAB. . . . . . . . THAT IS STABILITY. The only time I read anything about our assistants these days is when they are arrested for DUI or shoplifting. Instead of coming off as bitter haters, true USF fans should direct their anger at USF athletics. . . . . . in the ten years O'Leary built UCF's stable, championship program (with superior facilities), USF sat on its butt in the BE and has NOTHING to show for it. UCF won more games last year than USF won in the last three years COMBINED. . . . . . . . don't call O'leary an alcoholic. . . . . . call USF admin and tell the new guys you won't support the program if gross mismanagement continues.
  15. I'm ready for independence in football. Everyone shouts it down by saying we'd go broke. But I think the P5/G5 system is rigged to make us go broke but survive on life support waiting for our drippings of attention. . . . . . plus G5 football is meaningless crap. But I'd rather risk going broke taking a chance on myself than sit around getting bled to death financially waiting for the scoundrels in the B5 to decide they want to share their money with me (which will never happen). Seriously, park the olympic sports in the Sunbelt or the SoCon. . . . . . . and roll the dice as an independent. If we go bust, the AAC would take us back anyway since it sucks out loud. The B5 is setting up the G5 as a nondescript underclass that competes amongst itself for scraps of attention and money from the G5. USF needs to go it alone.
  16. Before you leave, at least tell us what is your favorite kind of publix sub.
  17. Where are they now? They are spending their time and money on other forms of entertainment. this is, after all, just entertainment to most. Relegation and a crummy on-field product has crushed the program. usf athletics is to blame
  18. Aresco's tough talk reminds of when he took over. Back then he said we (the BE) were worthy of a BILLION dollar contract. Everybody rolled their eyes and went and got theirs. Months after his bold proclamation, he secured us pennies on the dollar and we were getting stiffed by the likes of SDSU. Not trying to be a troll, but Aresco's specialty was TV and he screwed the pooch. I think he's in over his head.
  19. USF should go independent in football. The existing system is set up to financially kill us. . . . . . why do we stay in it. USF in the AAC is like a person staying put in a 5 alarm building fire because he is afraid he'll die if he jumps out the 4th story window. The impact might kill him, but in reality, jumping out the 4th story window is his ONLY CHANCE to survive.
  20. AAC should do something desperate and bold, like invite a couple Canadian college football teams (Toronto, Montreal, and/or Guelph, ). We could treat the 3 down, 4 down thing like ground rules. It could make for interesting TV and the tv deal would get better if we sold to Canada eyeballs. We need a hook in this crappy moribund conference that is getting left in the dust by the B5.
  21. I think our offensive line is solid but we are a huge question mark at QB. I truly cannot predict this years team. Due to the fact we play in a crappy conference, we could improve rather quickly. . . . . but our qb play was so awful last year, I am not sure we have a serviceable college QB on the roster.
