  1. Also, the only team Houston played with a winning record is Texas Tech. And they lost. Admittedly they’ve looked better against the 2 common opponents in ECU and Tulsa.
  2. Did I miss something? Are we playing the 85 Bears? we might lose but nothing makes me think our guys are going to just roll over.
  3. 1- need some guys to get healthy. Bell at RB, Yates at DL, Sawtellle at LB probably most important. 2- will need to help the OL, probably play a second TE to block. 3- need to threaten off tackle runs every once in awhile. Although we ran into the middle 50 times last year we had some success when we at least faked a jet sweep. I don’t think we can run wide on UH but at least enough off tackle to get their line moving laterally instead of just standing there. 4- need to spy King and keep him contained. BTW, I expect the defense to play less aggressive to avoid giving up big plays and forcing UH to drive the ball methodically. I would be surprised if we blitz much.
  4. I’m not picking on the students. They’ve been fine to fill that end zone this year. I’m just irritated that the student newspaper is running the “struggling to get to 6-0” article that I can read many other places. Including this board.
  5. There’s a lot of execution problems if you want to look. OL is an easy target but sometimes they make it easy to pick on them. Our second offensive play both tackles pull to the center and bump into each other. We went from 2d and 4 to 3d and 7. I got through the first few offensive series and inevitably on every series there’s one significant mess up by someone on the OL. Then when they get it together then someone else does something wrong.
  6. Maybe the Oracle should spend time encouraging more of their fellow students to attend the games and support the 105 student athletes that currently sit at 6-0 regardless of who they play or the style in which it happens.
  7. AD: Listen Charlie, I have it on good authority that there’s a few hundred million ready to be bet on this weekend’s game. If you can cover you might just get that IPF and maybe even the OCS. CCS: Well we just try and play as good as we can. UConn is pretty dangerous. AD: Don’t you want an IPF? Or an OCS? CCS: Look we’re just going to take it one play at a time. We can’t overlook anyone. AD: So you’re not going to be able to cover? CCS: One play at a time. AD at his computer later: *Yes I’d like to place hundreds of millions on UConn to cover*
  8. Whoever is not leading is doing a good job in the 4th quarters. THose not leading should do better in quarters 1-3 though.
  9. I certainly wasn’t implying that. Just noting that if we end 9-3/10-2 that maybe at the end of the day that was the absolute high end for this team.
  10. Maybe it will end up that way. However, the one positive is that despite all the changes they have found ways to win. Albeit ugly. I do think the team is mentally tough. That’s cause for hope of another double digit win season.
  11. For all our hope for a conference championship and NY6 bowl we have to step back and look at what this team is. New starters at QB, 2 RB, WR, 2 OL, 2 DT, DE, MLB, S, Nickel, P, K. We’re replacing 14 of 24 starters. Are we really a team reloading as opposed to rebuilding? Throw in the freshman contributing at all levels which means a lack of meaningful contributors in the sophomore and junior classes and no one should be shocked if this team loses 3-4 games down the stretch. Tulsa included. Short week with back to back road games. Then tough road games at Houston, Cincinnati and Temple. Finishing with the tinmen at home. I think we can win every game left but I would not be surprised to lose a few either. If somehow this team wins the conference Charlie would have done a great coaching job. None of the above will stop me from yelling at TV and demanding Sterling Gilbert be fired every game.
  12. I don’t think we’re one of the top 25 teams in the country right now. But I don’t follow anyone like I follow USF. That means I only see highlights of other teams but see everything, warts and all, about the bulls. Also, VaTech lost to 1-5 Old Dominion and is ranked 24.
  13. Tulsa gave Houston all they could handle for 3 quarters the other day. They ran pretty well and I think the UH DL is better than ours.
  14. I look forward to the Sterling Gilbert HC era.
  15. That’s great for the locals, but what is the situation for those outside Tampa?
  16. Only because BYU would be as good or better than most P5 teams we would schedule. Of course if we do I’d be all on board.
  17. We’re going to get an FCS team or MAC/Sun Belt replacement. I’d be stunned if we throw another “P5” team on top of Wisconsin, GT and BYU.
  18. Every time I see that play I want to start racing around swinging my arms like McCants. A little odd at work though. I mean more odd than at home.
  19. I’m pretty sure the UCF and TTU games that QF threw no 1 yard passes that turned into 85 yard gains. As the kids say, he was fire both games.
  20. We were the more talented team, we were right to be aggressive, especially trailing. If we were playing Bama under the same circumstances I could live with go in and regroup.
  21. So if I sign up for YouTube TV I can get a 7 day trial which includes B10? That looks possible.
  22. Next week a “directional commuter” school will curb stomp them in Chicago.
