BaseBulls are ranked #25 in at least one poll this week!

So this poll is basically one dudes opinion? Jeez, I think I will start my own poll and put USF #1.

At least he ranked us and has written some nice articles about USF;

I get that but is there one poll that actually carries any weight?  It seems that baseball has dozens of these and many seem questionable in terms of  legitimacy.

The NCAA lists the  following baseball polls:

D1Baseball.com

This poll is done by just two people.

NCBWA

This poll is done by the college baseball writers.

Baseball America

This poll is done by two people.

USA Today Coaches' Poll

This poll done by the college baseball coaches.

http://www.ncaa.com/rankings/baseball/d1

I don't know how much weight, if any, the NCAA gives to any of these polls.

But, since they are recognized on the NCAA site, you might consider them to be more valid.

Thank you this is very helpful. I will keep my eye on these as the weeks unfold in what looks like a great year for USF baseball.

The NCAA recently released baseball RPI  for this year. That also is listed under "rankings".

Current USF RPI is #38.

So, that is something you might also keep an eye on throughout the season.

Baseball is no different than basketball. At the end of the season, the conference winners get automatic bids into the regionals and the rest of the spots are at-large and decided by a committee who uses polls, RPI, etc. to make their decision. The regionals are 4 team, mini-tournaments, hosted by the top 16 "seeds" in the field (64 total teams in groups of 4). The winners of those go to 8, best-of-three, super regionals with the winners going to Omaha.

Our 2015 season when we made a regional.

In the Coaches poll, USF moved up three places to #34.
