The USA team, ranked #2 in the world started group play with a 3 - 1 win over 10th ranked Australia.

They'll play 5th ranked Sweden on Friday (coached by the former US coach Pia Sundhage).

 

Sweden is coming off a shocking last minute tie against Nigeria.

 

Group D is probably the toughest group in the tournament.

Interesting Cup so far...Japan looks tough, and home team Canada may challenge.  Pulling for my Ticas but they may not make it to the next round.  US is all but a lock, but they've had some sloppy play too.  Would be great to seal the deal.
