The Bulls’ arms were warmed up well after high-fiving their peers at a packed student section that made the season-opening victory over Western Carolina electric before, throughout and after the ‘W’ was in the books. “It’s good to get our students involved. Our student section was packed today and we want to keep those guys coming every game, make it hard for teams to come in and play at Raymond James,†senior defensive end Todd Chandler said. “They had to call a couple of timeouts because the students were so loud. We just want to keep that going throughout the season and make big things happen.†The Bulls have postseason aspirations in 2014 and they know it’s going to take way more than the players and coaches to make it happen. Director of Athletics Mark Harlan and head coach Willie Taggart have stressed the importance of getting students more involved in “their team†all preseason. USF fans know Taggart’s “Do Something†motto very well at this point in the coach’s time with the program and the Bulls themselves did quite a bit to show their appreciation to the students in the days leading up to kickoff. It all started with The Huddle, a new tradition at USF that brings the student body and the football team together for a special preseason celebration. Students flooded the Lee Roy Selmon Athletics Center for the event that featured pep talks from Harlan, Taggart and team captains before everyone gathered in a super-sized huddle to shout the fight song. Learn more about The Huddle HERE. Players then rolled up their sleeves and picked up boxes, computers, printers, TVs, mini refrigerators and every other item a college student needs while participating Bull Haul, a freshman move-in event that included an amazing number of 700 volunteers during USF’s Week of Welcome.
