With western carolinas loss to app state, they finish their season at 2-10.

Do we think we can beat a 2-10 FCS team?

I think we will score an offensive TD or five. Would be nice to win a blowout.

From the standpoint of selling the program that is a game that Taggart will have to win by about 5 TDs if they want fans to show up later in the season.

If we win with a score of like 14-10 then it will be a bore fest that will generate little interest.

...and if we lose?  After this 2013 season, I have lost all confidence.

If we lose the season is done, we'll know it wasn't an aberration.

If they lose to Western Carolina to open 2014, Taggart will be one of the coaches fired mid/late season.

But I say we win that game. I'm calling it now.

Yeah I think we win this game pretty handily, or else the fans will be turned against Willie.

This isn't like McNeese, because they were at least a decent team at the lower level

McNeese didn't just beat us, they hung 50+ on us.  Just sayin.

Coming off a year like this, we have no reason to expect 5+ TDs even against Western Carolina. But I predict that with some overly-positive press and some local cheerleading over the spring/summer, we'll see plenty of people on here that think we're going to steamroll them and make some serious waves in the AAC. Happens every stinkin year regardless of the coach.

Lots of fans are already turned, btw. They'll eventually be back as the program gains some momentum, but I'm not even sure that starts next season. I hope it does!

Raptor, I'm in agreement.  After what we've seen this year and looking at what returns next year (~70% of players NOT recruited by Willie T), what should we expect next year?  I'm not saying that next season's likely problems will be all on Taggart, but it's hard to imagine a lot of positive change when the vast majority of returning players apparently do not fit into Taggart's system (per Taggart).  There's only so much a player can transform into between now and next August (8 months).  With a current recruiting rating (aver stars) at 2.84 (Rivals), it doesn't appear that Taggart is bringing in any better quality players than Holtz.  Although, quality for the spread offense is just that, and the same 2.8 something average star rating for players that match the power  game will be an advantage for Taggart, but my point about star rating is still valid.  If Taggart is this miracle recruiter, then he needs to have recruit classes that average around 3.0 and that have four or five 4-star players and few if any 2-star recruits.
