The  fact that this metric excludes anyone who leaves Florida seems to skew it so much that it is worthless.

Nice to be number 1; but it is a terrible list. It excludes people leaving the state AND penalizes school that focus in STEM fields. This obviously pushes UF towards the bottom.

It's been very good to me.

if I recall, my first job out of college in 1996 paid $25k. . . . Low pay, but good times. I didn't have a care in the world.

What is up with that excuse making for UF? This was written by some UF homer. That they have more stem which cost more so it hurts their score? Maybe they just have more money to spend sothey spend more is the really reason. USF and UCF are big STEM schools too. Probably the second and third largest engineering colleges after UF and they came in at the top of the list, ahead of FSU, a more liberal arts focused university. The little line that STEM programs bias the results to make some excuse for UF is pathetic because UCF, USF and UF are the biggest stems.

The bottom line is that your degree is what you make out of it. USF and UCF have a good advantage in that they are close to the cities that offer tons of interships for major companies. Students take advantage of that and get their feet wet with experience. I am telling you. When I hire people, I look at their experience a lot more than whether that student went to UF, FSU, USF, etc. I take the best canditate that has been through the experience of the job. It is what the student makes out of it.
