I don't know if that is why he took the timeout, but we were ready for the onside kick before the timeout was taken.

 

 

We were lined up 15 yards off instead of the 10 that is required.  After their timeout, our guys lined up correctly 10 yards off the ball.  It wasn't something he didn't like but something he liked.  Unfortunately for him, our guys corrected it after their timeout and the rest is history.

 

 

From what I was seeing they were lined up 15 back and then someone on the field started waving his teammates up to the 10 yd spot.  That is when they called timeout.  They would have had a much better shot at recovery before the timeout IMO.  We looked a bit disorganized.

 

 

The thing was they were lined up to kick it away and we were actually lined up correctly for that, if lining up normally is 15 yds from the ball. TT, or whoever, should have been committed to the onside kick from the beginning. It would have at least saved them a timeout if they had recovered it.

We were not lined up for a regular kickoff. We were in a "safe".

If they kicked it deep Hopkins was there for a return. If it was onsides we had 10 players there (within 15 yards) to attempt to try to recover the onside kick

how far from the ball do we normally line up to receive a kick?

Definitely wouldve kicked it deep. Hopkins has been terrible and they wouldve had two TOs. Our offense was stalled too
