I believe Bortles was a 2 star coming out of HS. Its not that they were able to get that kind of talent, it is more of the fact they developed him. BJ was a talent but never got developed and that is proved by becoming a NFL QB. How did BJ not get developed? Where is he ranked on the total yards for a QB for the Big East? Top 3 isn't it? There are several NFL qbs on that Big East list behind BJ. No way he wasn't developed. They don't give NFL jobs to QBs that aren't, the NFL isn't a place to develop, its a place to hone. tell that to anyone that signed tebow. BJ was a very good QB for us. This is EXACTLY my point. He is developed, into the wrong kind of QB, that is exactly why he can't find a team. He developed into a QB that most NFL coaches can't use and that can't be modified. He's got running talent and they want to use that but he won't do it, doesn't want to hone that part of his game. Oh well.

Oh well. the nfl drafts on intangibles and potential all the time . especially at the QB position. they think they can develop them into QBs. our very own josh freeman was not a good college QB. neither was blaine gabbert. they were drafted because they are 6'5" tall and have strong arms.not because they are good QBs. it's unfortunate. I think they pass up on plenty of really good QBs because they don't have the "size". maybe they will eventually learn when they see guys like drew brees and russel wilson have success. probably not though. Not usually in the first round. I believe denver moved up to draft tebow in the first round. everybody knew he was a project. a guy by the name of blaine gabbert was taken #10 overall after throwing for 16 TDs and 9 picks his last year at missouri. the only reason he was drafted ahead of undrafted chase daniel from the same school was because he was taller. chase daniel was a heisman candidate for 2 years. threw for 39 TDs his last year in the same system. he had 60+ more college TDs than Gabbert. unfortunately for him he awas 5" shorter. the nfl drafts on potential all the time including in the first round. Happens all the time, sometimes you get lucky. If UCF was great at "developing", they'd have developed Godfrey and Bortles still wouldn't have seen the field. We signed a two star 220 lb center and he is now starting DE for the Dallas Cowboys.

He is a really hard worker, heard about his work ethic even when it looked like Godfrey was going to be a 4 year starter
