I do not know if this has been posted already, so please move it to the correct thread if needed, but here is Matt Grothe's assessment of the first game on rivals

"From start to finish we were completely outplayed and outcoached."

That pretty much sums it up.

No offense to Grothe, who killed us in 2006, the biggest win in McNeese history was in 76, when we won the Inaugural Independence Bowl with a skeleton crew...Next would be when we went into The Rock and won against Defending National Champ Appalachian State, the year following their big Michigan win...

Arguably, the USF win was third.....but I understand that he was engaging in a little hyperbole  ; )

Your team played great and is well coached. You should have a great season, best of luck.

I certainly hope we can hold that #3 ranking. Based off the effort I saw Saturday, I doubt it.

Good luck with the rest of your season.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
