Rutgers is proof that these decisions come down to market presence; I'd say our location will help us

While our TV market is one of our major assets, the difference between the Big 12 and ACC expanding and the Big Ten expanding is pretty major too.

The Big Ten owns 49% of their network. Distribution and ratings have a direct effect on their income. The Big 12 and ACC are getting paid the same, no matter what.

And academics. Rutgers wouldn't have been allowed into the B1G without their academics.

Yes. And also history. The birthplace of college football. With their football program now winning and properly funded, it gives the school and conference some bragging rights.
