Per Greg Auman, Noriega won't be back with the Bulls for the 2013-14 season.

There's the missing link to the puzzle.

With Noriega not returning, and Heath's son not on scholarship, we can afford all of whom we've picked up.

USF guard Shaun Noriega, who missed most of last season with a foot injury and is likely to get a medical redshirt from the NCAA, won't be back with the Bulls next season.

Noriega, limited to eight games as a senior in 2012-13 due to a stress fracture in his foot, should be eligible for a medical redshirt, but hasn't been officially granted another year of eligibility. He graduated from USF last week, so he'll be eligible to transfer and play his final season anywhere that has a graduate program not offered by USF, if he so chooses.

Noriega started 25 games in his four seasons with the Bulls, hitting 36 percent of his 3-point attempts over his career. The graduate of North Port High School, near Sarasota, flashed the potential for serious streak shooting, as seen in two memorable wins during his Bulls career

In the 2011 Big East tournament, Noriega went 4-for-4 on 3-pointers in the first four minutes, finishing with 22 points and sparking the Bulls to a 70-69 upset win against Villanova that heralded USF's success in 2011-12. Noriega had a key cameo in a Big East win during the Bulls' run that season, hitting two 3-pointers in one minutes off the bench to rally the Bulls to a 55-48 win at Providence.

With Noriega not returning, USF is still one scholarship over the limit, presuming all returning players and signees are with the team. Stan Heath can resolve that if his son Josh, a standout point guard from Tampa Prep, isn't on scholarship in his first season with the Bulls.

Thank you, Shaun!

Without you, the Bulls would not have made the NCAA Tourney, and the team would not have done so well.

Shaun Noriega will always be a USF Bull.

That's too bad.  His game really looked improved before he was injured.  Yes, we can thank Shawn for his heroics at Providence.  Without that, no bid that year.

Is he not returning because of the injury? Was he unable to fully recover?

And does Heath, as a high level employee, get some discounted tuition anyway for his son? I hae heard of some university employees having benefits like this.
