Where has it been said he was bankrupt?

He surrendured the home to avoid a forclosure......

"Less than a year after he announced his retirement from the NFL, Culpepper was forced to surrender his south Florida home instead of foreclosure back in April."

Must be  a slow news day here...OK, back to complaining about the UCF coach....and calling him names......

I might have dreamed up that part ... The point however, is that obviously he didn't have the $ to pay his mortgage, so he didnt, but he can open up a restaurant.

Sounds like misplaced priorities.

Also, how are you "forced out of a home" where your name is on the mortgage, but its not foreclosure? Serious question.

From the article:

Suntrust listed a debt of $3 mil. debt in court when they filed the foreclosure lawsuit. Earlier this month, they have decided to drop this lawsuit, and forgive the $3 mil. debt.

Simply a technicality ... they dropped the foreclosure lawsuit when he gave them the house, I'm assuming voluntarily signing it over to them, rather than them having to take it through the legal system.

And he has another house down there so this was basically a lowlife move of just stopping paying on it.

Also, I'm guessing that he's not very involved with the restaurant. The outside investors are probably putting up the money and expertise, likely he's only supplying the name and the schmoozing.

charsibb= level headed. I'll give it a try but the Tilted Kilt two doors down is pretty darn  hard to beat. Prime Rib wrap is all world...for simple food, scenery is not too bad as well.

I think what char was saying was that he didn't have the money to invest in the restaurant but just contributed his name, like broken down athletes do in Vegas ...

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
