There is a reason they call basketball and football the revenue sports.

How much profit does football net at USF?  Basketball?

I know men's basketball and football are supposed to be money makers.

What other USF sports bring in money?

For example, if women's basketball made it to the final four, would that make USF any money? What about non-sweating baseball, does it make any money? There's no money in soccer, right?

What is "non-sweating baseball"??

Perhaps a jab at baseball, the sport where you stand around the entire game? In contrast to sweating sports like basketball, football, and soccer where you are running around and sweating the entire game. Idk.

I have no idea if they are turning "profits" but they bring in the revenue.  My guess is each comes close to paying for itself, ie. covering costs of travel, stadium costs, etc.

I wonder how they would do financially without the high USF student athletic fees.

No other sport has positive revenue.

The question as asked about which sports bring in money, we charge for tickets at:

Football

M Basketball

W Basketball

M Soccer

W Soccer

Volleyball

Baseball

Softball

When a soccer game is on tv, I'm not sure we get more money for that, but it does give the program great exposure.

@Chris, I was at tonight's baseball game ... . might have been 1,000 there. I bet the average ticket price was about $0.50 ... very few paying $7. Season ticket holders, USF students, all kids under 18, recruits and their families, player families, guests of coaches, athletic staff all pay less. Maybe 50-100 of the 1,000 paying $7.

I know money is important....but so is quality of life...If someone enjoys watching a USF baseball game and pays $.50  is there realy anything wrong with that.

I can imagine lots of USF graduates having Staford loans to pay and looking for work.  They still love their school... let's cut them a break...

Who said there was anything wrong. I was just saying that while baseball takes in money, it is a long way from paying all of its bills (which is true of everything except football and men's basketball).

I think our Olympic sports are priced prefect. Affordable for everyone. We want bodies in the stands to support those teams.

There's no way they make money.  They probably don't cost quite as much to operate, but there's also zero revenue stream for those sports.  The same could be said for tennis, golf, track.

If your post was responsive to mine, I was being facetious. I think the only 2 sports that make money for USF are football and basketball. With the changes in basketball to take place next season, football will be our only money maker.
