Cheer up and watch: Feeling depressed about how far our basketball team fell from a year ago? Did we over achieve? Last year's team had RAJ and Gilchrist both who were great inside defenders and rebounders and true big men. Unfortunately for us this years team got a minor setback revolving its only true center and his academic eligibility under our Admissions. After that, we tried playing in the toughest conference in college basketball with no one over 6'9 besides a 250+ 7'3 RSFreshman who suffered from injuries and barely understands the game. "This is Stan's fault he didn't recruit anyone" Do you remember how terrible the entire USF basketball program was not too long ago? I came here in 2009 and the Sun Dome was a dump and the team was a laughing stock. The fact that DJ took us to the NIT was a miracle. What exactly is Stan supposed to pitch to a kid in High School getting offered by the likes of Billy Donovan? This is was a tough year after last year no doubt but just give it time. Now with these new facilities Stan can actually recruit to his system. Next year we'll have these guys on our team: & Chris Perry Everythings gonna be alright. And before the kid comes back with meaningless stats about other teams' rebounders around this size, it's not just about height, it's about the presence you mentioned in your first sentence. We've had nobody, of any consequence, this year comfortable playing with their back to the basket .... nobody who took rebounding personally, night in and night out. We were able to somewhat get away with that ooc but it would be glaring coming into league play and would magnify any other deficiencies we had, like consistent outside scoring. Also, I don't think anyone is saying that we do a 180 next year and head back to the Big Dance .... but we should have a group on the floor that will lay a foundation where it won't be 20 years before we go back. We WILL improve next year! Hawkins and LeDay have shown a lot of progress this year as well.

Last year's team overachieved. The OP makes good points and gives us reason to believe.

Couldn't have been said any better. Watch T try to play close to the basket (on either end of the floor) has been painful to watch. Having White miss so many games didn't help at all either.
