No problems with the skip-step today. Just depends on the umpire though ...

Exactly. She pitched the same way all of last year, and only a couple times was it called. All depends on who is umping..

Just got back in from taking dinner to mom (she's 90).  Nice to see we squeezed a run across in the 6th.  Interesting that he brought in Richardson to get the final out.

Righty on righty matchup. Would have likely brought Nevins back in to face the lefty on deck had that happened.

Sat next to a former fast pitch umpire at yesterday's game.  We discussed that and he said that some of the coaches at the World Series carry a lot of clout with the umps.  If they point out something that is technically illegal, they'll look for it and call it if they see it.

He pointed out that the rules have changed since he umped.

So she's still doing it, eh?

It's going to get called, and at the worst possible times. She needs to stop

Huh?

I'm not referring to any specific day, I'm referring to an illegal pitching style (which I have not seen this year myself, so this is all 3rd-hand) which is going to cost us baserunners, and maybe games, sometime this season, unless corrected.

Well from my view of it yesterday when she was pitching you can see she has worked on it, although it is not fixed correctly you can def. see a difference on between last year and this year (less distance between her foot and the ground). It is difficult for her to get it completely fixed because of the velocity she is moving going through the pitching movement. We will see how the rest of the season plays out and hopefully we get lucky with the umpires this year when she is pitching just in case.

Though I am super excited to see what this pitching staff can pull off this year. Should be one of the best staffs in all of softball this year.

Thanks for the update.

Keep working on it Sara, you can do it!

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
