  1. People tend to forget the last 3 games of spread offense without BJ last year. I've really gotten tired of listening to this argument. So I decided to go back and see how bad the offense was after BJ got hurt last year. Guess what? It was better than this season. Two of the opponents we also played this year. I'll use Rutgers as a comparable for Pitt, since they were both the last game of a miserable season. 2012 vs Miami - 358 total yards / 3 Turnovers 2013 vs Miami - 306 total yards / 3 Turnovers 2012 vs Cincy - 306 total yards / 2 Turnovers 2013 vs Cincy - 241 total yards / 1 Turnover 2012 vs Pitt - 117 total yards / 4 turnovers 2013 vs Rutgers - 151 total yards / 2 Turnovers So Holtz had an offense built around BJ Daniels that had to change near the end of the season and a terrible defense to work with. Taggart had the entire offseason to build an offense around what he had to work with, and a Top 25 defense. But most importantly the Pitt game really doesn't count since everyone in the locker room knew Holtz was a goner. And the 2012 offense was still better. In fact, Floyd had a reasonably good completion percentage in his three game last year. So I think we can stop with that silly comparison. Key quote is that holtz had BJ Daniels to build around and Taggart has....whatever this is
  2. What Duke has done is impressive. But UNC should handle them and FSU would make them look like everyone else they have played this year. Bad. FSU over Bama 31-28
  3. I got hate on here for saying bortles was a top 5 QB. Ill stick by my guns all year. Im a USF student and fan, but the kid is good
  4. The entire offense looked off tonight. Players were late on the field, switching in and out of packages looking confused. Hard to get the best out of a player if he's thinking too much
  5. He looks like a freshman out there. There is a reason to be excited, but that is for the future. He has POTENTIAL to be a very solid QB but hes not very good right now. He shows glimpses but he isn't very smooth fundamently yet and I think that will come when the game slows down for him.
  6. FSU wasnt incredibly strong that year and even though it was a big in state win, so was beating Miami in Miami and Evald did that. True true, but I think Daniel's performance was more impressive in his first start, and certainly, the team as a whole, because of the defense. Empty reliant is not like full Doak, filling Floyd or bench or eveld's shoes is a lot easier than filling Grothe's. Doak was far from full that game.

  8. It's football. When you play you have to finish and make a statement. You have to at least make the DB think you are going to be physical
  9. Holtz left a lot of older players out on the field even when they were terrible. If anything I see it as the opposite, taggart is showing if you aren't making plays you won't be on the field. Unfortunately we may not be able to field a team with this mindset right now
  10. KYP. Know Your Personnal. Without a QB that can consistently make good reads and make good throws any offense will look boring and out of synch. With that being said, Wells is definitely not anything to brag about and should definitely be on the hot seat
  11. This. CWT waited as long as possible but it had to be done
  12. If only we had an OCS this wouldnt have happened. And some new uniforms
  13. Obviously time will tell, but your opinion is so in the minority it could be considered "fringe" at this point. deters, What is it that you don't think will translate? I mean you could be right, but outside of maybe your gut feeling I really think he has shown all the tools to be successful at the next level. Outside of Luck hes the best prospect in the last 5 years. Haters gunna hate but Teddy is as real as it gets
  14. Out of curiosity, who's your top 5? As far as who I think will translate well at the next level- 1. Teddy 2. Winston 3. Hogan 4. Mettenberger 5. Bortles With Hackenberger, manziel and Mariota being very close. I don't think Teddy is that good at the next level TBH. I would have no reservations taking Winston or Hackenberg with a Top 5 pick. 1. Winston 2. Hackenberg 3. Mariota 4. Hogan 5. Manziel/Bortles/ Teddy Teddy is the absolute real deal. He is going to have a field day on us Saturday unless we really get pressure on him.
  15. Won't McCarron and Murray be doing that at the next level anyway? Not sure how you're using that as an argument. So let's see, you asked for 5 QBs better, you were given 7, even if you take away the three you did using the dubious arguments you made, I can throw in Tajh Boyd in there and you still have 5. I'm sure you'll come up additional subjectively-supported reasons to "debunk" those too, though. Yeah but the every corner in the NFL is much better and they won't be able to just put it up and let their guys out play the secondary on a consistent basis. The exact reason most successful NFL QBs dont come from traditional powerhouse programs lol, most successful NFL QBs? Colin Kaepernick, Tony Romo, Ben Roethlisberger and Andy Dalton are the only starting QBs who came from non-P5 conferences. In all fairness, Mr Bortles did say they didn't come from traditional powerhouse programs rather than didnt come from P-5 conferences .... don't know if that changes things much but there is a definite difference. That was my point. And a lot of NFL scouts have the same opinion. I have watched a lot of film on bortles, Murray, teddy, mettenberger, mccarron and there is no way Murray or mccarron go before bortles if he decides to come out
