Neither Bonds or Clemons came close to being elected. Unless there is a major shift in the opinion of steroids, neither one will ever get in. Without steroids, both would be 1st-ballot shoo-ins. No question.

Writers make a fortune and eat free during all eras ... None of those dopers should get in before Pete Rose.

the ballparks were packed aND tv ratings were off the charts

the owners and writers knew players were juicing and they all benefited from it

newspapers are dead in this era pal

pete rose should be in also

the bwaa should not be allowed to vote players in any longer

they abused their position

Barry Bonds should get in solely based on how he was able to grow the size of his cranium from the days he was a rookie with the Pittsburg Pirates to when he actually retired. Steroids turned Barry Bonds into a Blockhead ala-Gumby.

Bonds needed more than 2x the votes he got to get in.  He's going to be waiting a long time.

Yeah, they'd be shoo-ins IF they had the same career they had without the roids.  But, take away the roids and who knows what kind of career they would have had ... they could just as well have been barely above average, and even above-average players don't get in.  See Craig Biggio and Mike Mussina from the latest balloting as an example.

Last I checked the scoreboard doesn't have a spot for current bank balance on it.
