I'm thinking we have to go back to the first year if IA to find a place for the current team.

Define worse.

If you ask worst coached, then yes. But worst talent or worst players, I think there could be some debate there. I still think there is talent on this team, but the staff is so bad that its not being used properly.

I'm kinda proud on this subject (my time in the sun playing at USF).

I think the 2000 team would give this team a run for the money... eventually squeaking out a close win.

Marquel was more polished as a QB as a sophomore than BJ is as a senior (and I like BJ Daniels).

Our secondary was extremely more skilled than this team's secondary (Anthony Henry and Bernard Brown were in beast mode that year). That is all coaching though... Andre Waters was the DB coach then.

The receiving corp in 2000 was still very raw. You would have to give it to this year's squad IMO as they are just more talented (as expected). Seniors Charlie Jackson and Scott McCready and sophomores DeAndrew Rubin and Rashod Durant were the stars then - Huey Whittaker and Hugh Smith were still figuring things out. Not even sure if Huey dressed that season.

I believe we had the better kicking game in 2000 (Bill Gramatica vs Bonani, Sanderson vs JBK).

The LB corp had two Butkis award candidates (Kawika and Vassay Marc). Probably deeper LB corp with the year's squad, but I would take Mitchell and Marc all day.

The D-line is much better this season IMO (although there were some studs back in the day on the D-line - Shawn Hay for instance).

Our O-line was anchored by four year starter Joey Sipp at center and 4th round draft pick Kenyatta Jones at tackle. Our O-line could move men then.

Running back is a push. Otis Dixon and Dyral McMillan were plenty talented and were tough to bring down (D-Mac transferred from UofM). Lamar though has been a pleasant surprise considering his size.

Coaching (and it pains me to say this)... Have to go with the 2000 team. Waters was the DB coach. Canales was the OC (and is now a HC at North Texas). Jimbo was the HC and is now killing it with the LB's in San Francisco. We definitely weren't conservative then.

I'll take the 2000 team in a close game: 24-20.

I still think this year's team would beat the 2004 team though. Just my two cents.

I think right now, the only team that these guys could beat, would be my senior team, in 2004. That was a very rough year for us. But I know that no of us walked of the field early!

Nothing to do with the players, other than they are underperforming and not playing to their true talent as a result of the coaching staff, this is our worst team ever (so far).
