Safety Carl Williams has been cleared and released by South Alabama and will enroll at USF this summer, according to email from his father, Carl.

The 6-foot-1, 205-pound Williams is expected to start out at strong safety at USF,

Rated by rivals.com a three-star safety out of high school, Williams had nearly 20 offers, including Arkansas, UCF, Texas Tech, UCLA, Cincinnati, Connecticut, and Iowa State, among several others.

Williams will be participating in summer workouts with the team in preparation for fall practice.

Next year will be Williams' sit out year, and will play on scholarship his redshirt sophomore, junior, and senior seasons, his father said.

and when was the last time we got a commit other then a JUCO/Transfer... this is like 7 in a row...

Anyone know how he played at South Alabama? I am assuming he is good if Holtz is going to use a scholarship on him. Certainly a need for us.

Was a FL Top 100 out of First Coast in Jax. No stats from 2011 at USA, gonna assume he sat on sidelines.

HS film looks good, he brings it.

Will he be on scholarship during his redshirt year? The way I'm reading this is no he wont, but that could just be the wording.
