Punting is not all about how far it goes. Hang time is also important, and is what JBK is good at. Look at how many punt return yards we gave up --- 19 yards (16 came against WVU). What good is a 60 yard punt if it gets there so quickly they can return it for 30 yards??

Net return yards is what is important and JBK had a pretty good year by our standards.

You have a valid point. But the issue with the punting game was not the hang time or even distance. It was the inconsistency. There were some great punts this year. Better punts than most punters in the country could make. There were, however, some really poor punts that contributed to losses. One really bad punt easily wipes out two or three good ones. The consistency must improve next year.

I would take that. It's the 15 yard punts that killed us. Might as well have gone for it on 4th down.

Holtz was so happy with BK that he had Bonani doing rugby punts.

With regards to punt yards in general, we ranked 119th (of 120) in the country. Who cares, you say? Our net punting was good for 99th (of 120) in the country.
