It was my first cruise (my girlfriend's 9th). I was extremely impressed by the grandeur of the ship. It is truly a marvel of modern engineering. 7 days was the perfect amount of time to be aboard. Obviously, I don't have a point of reference, but my girlfriend does and her thoughts were: 1. food options killed all those offered on other ships, 2. the shows were top-notch, 3. the service was much less personable, 4. unless you looked out the balcony, you never felt like you were on a ship, 5. biggest Casino on a ship she had been on.

Overall, I would recommend it. Also, if you are looking for incredible deals on a cruise checkout www.crucon.com . I booked through them and had a D3 Category Oceanview Balcony with $100 OBC, prepaid gratuities, free specialty dinner, and free spa service for $925 each.

Nice to hear.  I will definitely check out the website next time.  We typically book through a place called skyscrapertours, small family owned travel agent in Arkansas of all places, but they also offer very good deals.  However, I am always open to getting a better deal.  We have heard mixed results from people who have been on the Allure & Oasis.  We have never been on either yet, waiting for the prices to go down a bit.  I am in Palm Beach County, so convenience is a huge factor for going on these ships.  Sounds like you will be a repeat cruiser, especially with your wife being an avid cruiser.  Cruising is certainly fun & relaxing.

Great find!  When the wife and I got married in 2007 we drove up to Maine for our honeymoon.  One day we decided to do one of the park tours for one of the mountains and I naturally had on my USF stuff.  A older woman stopped us and it turns out that she was a part of the first graduating class from USF.  We talked for a little while with her before we had to move on with our group.  Small world.

I was on allure of the seas in April. Unbelievable ship. I'm thinking of going on the Norwegian epic for my next cruise... anyone with experience on it?

Just skip carnival, they are the worst polluting cruise company in the world. As well as dumping their trash at sea, once they are done with their ships they just pay developing countries to run them into their shores and leave them there for poor workers to disassemble. Learned that at USF as an Environmental Science and Policy major :)

Bwhaha.  They are all the same.  Carnival is a bit outdated.  RC is a bit overpriced.  We've had good luck on Princess as far a price per cruise and the quality of the staff ships.  But they are a more subdued line.  We are going on the Carnival Legend out of Tampa for the second time in a couple weeks.  We were able to book a suite on the legend for the price of an inside balcony on the Oasis or Allure or a 10 day cruise on Princess. The balcony alone is bigger than our room would be on any other ship I've been on.  They'll be some annoying people on the cruise for sure as Carnival is like the walmart of the cruise lines.  But as far as food and service, we have actually had a better time on the carnival and princess smaller ships than the RC superships filled with way too many people.  Plus it is sweet sailing out of tampa under the skyway.

I have used a site called cruisecompete.com for the past couple bookings.  I have not seen another cruise site come close to the price I get quoted.  They usually include all the taxes and port fees plus on board credit.

Ship looks beautiful, but we had a bad experience with NCL; poor service, bad food, cleanliness issues.  Our experience was on the sky, an older ship.
