A might not be so crazy scenario....Say um gets the death penalty. The ACC then kicks them out and invites USF. The ACC would want to keep a prescence in Florida South of Tally. It would set up a natural rivalry with FSU.

Is there a way UM could legally be kicked out of the conference? are there certain rules that may have been violated that would cause UM to get the boot?

Of course ACC would not want a dead in the water school like UM(if they receive severe penalties from the Shapiro thing), and would rather have an upcoming school like USF. But it what possibility could this happen?

I'm no lawyer and but I'd bet $$ to donuts that if a shcool were to get the death penalty, the conference would have the ability to remove them. I don't know how any of it would work. Does ESPN have the right to withhold money? They will lose games that they were going to broadcast.

A call for anyone that knows how conference membership contracts work.

i would love to see the BE/ACC/B12 team up to form two 16/18-team conferences.  maybe it'll make the basketball realignment that much easier.  imagine duke and UNC in our BE BB schedule.  that would be cool to see.

As it currently stands, those three conferences have 30 total teams.  TCU makes 31.  They'd have to add one more to get 2-16 team conferences.  Maybe Houston or ECU?

that would be nice. if they actually worked together than they would control nearly 50% of the BCS programs. they would literally run things.

I say one big pile.... BE, ACC, and Big/Mini 12 all get together and divide it into minor super conferences who each hold their own championship games....find a way to share revenue including TV funding

Houston stands to benefit the most in this scenario.

I don't see how the ACC fits in, but, the BE and B12 could come up with 'championship' like game where each conference sends their champ to play a "bowl" type game during championship Saturday. It would rival the larger conferences championship games and give the BE and B12 champ an additional chance to prove themselves prior to bowl selections.

If both conferences are AQ, why would they do this and take a chance on losing a BCS bowl berth?

They would have already secured their BCS spot by winning their conference, but a win in this game could catapult them into the NC game under the right circumstances instead of sitting at home while the college football world watches the other conference championship games.

Answer $$$$$

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
