Named the top NBA prospect at a pre-season camp featuring more than 100 unsigned seniors and junior college players, he’s emerged as a priority recruit for a growing number of Division I programs.Huggins is expected to hop on a plane tomorrow to visit Nash, who lists WVU, Georgetown, Oklahoma, Creighton and South Florida as his top five. It’s quite possible he could receive an offer at that point. http://westvirginia.247sports.com/Article/Huggs-Hard-at-Work-on-Court-Recruiting-Trail-15272

The freshman is averaging 23 points, five assists and eight rebounds per game this season. I spoke to him before he got on the plane and he said he gave them a verbal,†said his head coach Hunter Berg. “His visit went real well, he thought it was a great school, and they obliviously play in a great conference and thought they were a great fit for him.â€The 6-foot, 185 pound guard had several offers and was being recruited by many schools before narrowing his choices to USF, Texas A&M and Oklahoma before choosing USF.“He was getting recruiting by a lot of schools and South Florida committed to him early,†said Berg. “He was considering schools like Texas A&M and Oklahoma, and through the recruiting process different schools were also involved like Georgetown, Creighton, West Rutgers, and Nebraska were talking to him. I guess it went real well down at South Florida this weekend.â€Nash had an impressive junior season averaging 22ppg, 5 assists, 6.5 rebounds, and 2 steals per game, while shooting 42% from 3-point range. Nash was named to the JUCO all-American second team, and was the only freshman member. Nash also earned All-Conference honors and also was selected as the Conference's Most Valuable Player as well.“Player wise he’s quick, he’s strong and he’s a playmaker,†said Berg. “He needed him to score and obviously his numbers say that he can. He’s an excellent scorer and shoots the ball really well and has a great pull-up game. He can slash and put it on the floor all the way to the rim. I think his game will develop into more of a true point guard and he can distribute the ball and can really pass the ball.â€Once he arrives on campus Nash will have 3 years to play.Stay tuned with USFNation.com for more details on the Bulls newest hoops commit Blake Nash coming soon. "We had a good year because Blake was really, really good. He won a lot of games for us -- there's no way to sugarcoat that. He's quite strong, an extremely good passer, really takes care of the ball. He can shoot it, can clash, has an excellent pullup game."Nash committed to USF during an official campus visit this weekend, choosing the Bulls over Oklahoma and Texas A&M, according to Berg. He was also recruited by Big East rivals West Virginia, Georgetown and Rutgers as well as Nebraska, and said other schools like Utah pursued him but Nash had made it clear he wanted to play in the Big 12 or Big East.Because he redshirted his first year at Williston, Nash has three years of eligibility remaining, much the same way guard Jawanza Poland did when he came to USF. Nash is from Casa Grande, Ariz., and played high school basketball in Los Angeles. The Bulls also have a commitment from Houston prep point guard Anthony Collins, and have two point guards returning from this season in senior Anthony Crater and sophomore LaVonte Dority; senior Shedrick Haynes is transferring from the program.Nash led Williston to a 24-9 record, averaging 22 points, 6.5 rebounds and 5 assists per game, according to Berg, and he connected on 42 percent of his 3-point attempts. USF had a strong connection at Williston through assistant coach Jeremy Cox, who coached in the same conference when he was at the North Dakota State College of Science in 1997-98.http://www.tampabay.com/blogs/bulls/content/junior-college-point-guard-nash-commits-bulls

Sounds like a winner here... about time.Yes this is the 1st commitment of the 2011 class that I don't consider a project or total waste of a scholarship. Imo I think Nash talent wise is there with Poland. Now once again he's another guy that Stan has who best fits an uptempo kind of pace. On paper we might be the most athletic team in the BE next season, but this style of play thing has to match up with what we have on the roster or another HC will get to reap the benefits.
