this basketball team has been routinely terrible with a few years of NIT bids here and there.

You're exactly right ... This program has averaged a post season bid about once every three years. Stan has continued that trend in the toughest conference in the country. Obviously we want to improve on that but until Stan has shown he can't do that, he needs to be given the chance ...

I am happy with what Stan did last year, but the key measuring stick for the head coach in a rebuilding year is "does your team get better throughout the year". The answer is a resounding "no".

A resounding "no"? .... based on what?

the only reason stan got a postseason bid last year was dominique jones( a robert mccullum recruit)

We get it ... Team does good, it's because of the players. Team does bad, it's because of Stan.

I get your point. team does bad it's because of the players. team does good it's because of the coach.

so what is it? i thought he couldn't coach.... but he coached DJ to leave early for the NBA.  RM would have killed his career and he would still be playing at usf this year.  and never even got a wiff of the NBA.  IS next the argument theat RM was a great recruiter....then where did that get USF with all his great talent that he got  last in the BE every year.

Mccullum has 2 recruits in the NBA.

Stan Heath 0  2.

Greenburg 0  1.

without mccullum's recruit stan heath would have by far a worse record than mccullum. and please don't say heath developed jones. if jones hadn't taken over the team last year, heath would have been fired by now.

Corrected your post for accuracy...

which stan heath recruits at usf are in the nba? which greenburg?

of course if you're going to compare all three then you might as well use the same conditions.

crappy facilities. crappy fans and all.

the fact is rmc recruited 66% of the nba players from this crappy basketball school.

rmc was 12-18 his last year with 3 Big east wins.

let's see if Heath tops that in his 4th year here.

He tripled it in his 3rd year ...

all he had to do was wait for a mccullum recruit to put the team on his back and lead the big east in scoring. that seemed to be the offense last year. give nique the ball and clear out.

you can honestly look at yourself and say RM recruited and had better teams then SH?  Then where is your beloved RM coaching now  still coaching some third world olympic team.  OR more then likely stuck as an assistant with one of his buddies because no one would ever hire him as a head coach again.  RM was a nice guy but in regards to a basketball program he ruined us.  IF I remember correctly DJ never even played for RM.  So he could have changed his commitment, but he didn't because he had no other offers. SH developed him into the player he became.

LOL ... OK, since Stan obviously can't coach (we'll just ignore what he did before came here), who do you suggest we replace him with?

Let's not get crazy now .... Mac didn't ruin us, what was there to ruin?? Woolard just didn't think he was the one to get us up to speed in the BE ... maybe he gave up on him too quick.  ;)
