and Cincy beats Pitt and Rutgers beats West Virginia we could still go to the BCS. There will be a 5 way tie and more than likely we will be the highest ranked team.

incorrect - if there is a 5 way tie, UConn still holds the conference tiebreaker to get the BCS nod. The BCS ranking item is used by some conferences like the Big Ten-- where not all the teams play every other team. We play everybody in the Big East, so there is a definitive tie breaker in place.

incorrect - Uconn would hold the tie breaker if they beat every team. The BCS rankings WILL apply to this situation.

No, you are wrong again.

The first step are the head to heads.  The five teams that are tied would form a mini-conference.  Then the mini-conference standings determine who would go.

UConn would still go to the BCS game.

Reposting the question here:

So if Pitt and WVU both lose, UCONN gets the BCS regardless of whether they win or lose to us?

Here is the mini-conference detail

ESPN Gameday Final mention UConn wins the 5 way tie. How was not mentioned. It was just stated smuggly.

5 way tie means UConn, WVU, Pitt, USF, and Cuse all finished 4-3 in conference.

First tie breaker is to form a mini conference among the tied teams.

UConn 3-1

WVU 2-2

Pitt 2-2

Cuse 2-2

USF 1-3

UConn wins conference BCS bid.

(Since our game is so late, and the other games are at noon, we will know before kickoff what the situation is for the title)

Oh yah, IF everybody above ended up 2-2, then the BCS rankings WOULD apply.

You're both half right.

But everybody above CAN'T end up 2-2 .... or was that a hypothetical situation?

Correct. I'm stating the hypothetical situation.
