'There was some talk Tuesday that some local dreamers will try to bring Lou Holtz, 73, back as Gophers football coach, with a master plan that Holtz's son Skip, the coach at South Florida, would succeed his dad at Minnesota.'

Have fun recruiting to a piss-poor bottom rung Big Ten School. Try selling the Florida, Texas and Cal kids on how awesome the Snow is and the multiple losses to AA teams.

::)

Minnesota had a Top 25 recruiting class a year or two ago.

Brewster just couldn't do anything with them.

If middle of nowhere schools (with tradition) can recruit like Wisconsin and Iowa can, so can Minnesota.

However, even if Lou went there, Skip would never succeed him there. I don't see Lou coming back - too old.

They have excellent facilities, get a ton of money from Big 10 affiliation, have you seen their stadium? Its a freaking $290 million palace....some of you guys are delusional....

They might not get a lot of FL kids, but they can get PA, NJ, OH kids which are still talent rich areas. They could lure a kid or two from FL, TX like Purdue has been doing the past couple of years too....

With that said, its ridiculous to think that Lou Holtz could coach a team right now, he's been outta coaching for over 15 years, the game has passed him by and any BCS team would be idiotic to hire him and to expect his son to follow him after he's done.

Lets hope skips name keeps coming up.  Leavitts stock dropped around mid 07 and no one wanted him since then - especially now.

wisconsin didnt have tradition until barry alvarez came

sometmes you need to make your own tradition and stop making excuses fr failure
