good find... interesting that they are considering taking BJ out for a series or two just to take a deep breath

he should have asked why he threw 38 times in a game where you're down by 1 score if it weren't for the dumb play call at the end of the half.

He should have asked him if he really believes his running game is the most consistent why does he only call 12 run plays to the running backs who averaged 5.6 ypc that game.

BJ Daniels has strengths and weaknesses. Fitch isn't calling plays to his strengths.

Mississippi State passed the ball 9 times against UF in a close game for an ugly win. That's the way we need to win.

go back and look how many balls were thrown(in the air) for 5+ yards...

80% of BJs throws are some sort of WR screen or extremely short curls... they are just glorified runs.

...to add to this... if you want to run the ball, but have no threat of throwing down field, you have to spread the defense out, make them at least worry about the potential of a WR to break a big play (speaking of which, one of BJs TDs this season was on the first pass of the season, to Bogan, on a WR screen). If we don't find some way to spread the defense out, the run will quickly get stopped.

we ran the spread zone read quite a bit against WVU.

needless to say... it didn't work

BTW, there's no need for the "abbreviations" - just type it out. Those of us who are not bothered by 4-letter words will see them, and sensitive folks can change their profiles to hide it.

It didnt work because BJ never kept the ball.  He had plenty of room to run on the read option in the WVU game and the few times we ran it in the Cuse game.  The coaches dont want him running, which is assinine at this point.  If the only way we win games this year is for BJ to be our leading rusher, then so be it.  The only called runs for BJ in BE games have been a few draws.  We should just hand it off if we are gonna throw a 3 yard pass.

at the end of the day the zone read comes down to the QBs decision based upon their read of the end and whatever pressure may be coming from his side..
