I just checked the Rivals recruiting rankings and I found to my dismay that over the last two weeks we have dropped about 20 spots, and we are now at 71. UCF, Marshall,San Diego State, just to name a few are all ahead of USF. That is a drop of 12 just since yesterday. Wonder what people's thoughts are on this!

We are dropping by the minute on Rivals. Right now we are at 72; right in between Duke and Temple!

Take a deep breath.....

64 UCF 21 recruits - avg 2.67

72 Duke 20 - avg 2.5

74 Temple 25 - avg 2.2

73 USF 17 - 2.88

Teams above us with same or lower number of recruits...

67 Verginia - 17 avg 2.76

68 Wake Forest - 17 avg 2.76

27 WV - 17 avg 3.24

46 Georgia Tech - 17 avg 3.12

49 Oregon State - 15 avg 3.07

11 USC - 12 avg 4.08

16 Georgia - 17 avg 3.47

23 Cali - 16 avg 3.44

Tams above us with lower avg stars...

36 BYU - 28 avg 2.79

44 Huston - 27 2.81

45 Boston College - 21 avg 2.86

47 Louisville- 28 avg 2.86

50 Fresno State - 20 avg 2.85

from 50-73 there are a bunch of teams with lower avg stars above us but they all have more recruits.

Can you now explain what this shows you?

Factor in the coaching change, and having maybe 20 schollies available at the most, and I think we're doing quite well.

Rankings are overrated for recruiting past the top 25 schools, its all about how they do during Gametime.

We are ranked above UCF on scouts.  Which one do you want to follow?  Which one makes you more happy about the class?

That list above has us at 17.  We signed 19, so it should go up.

If USF can get a few star players from this class, then its a good class  ;D. ranking dont matter much. The rankings doesnt take into account those that wont academically qualify

If the lazy folks at Rivals would add 4-star Chandler and 3-star Welch the rating would look much better.

Someone is still considering the rankings at Rivals??? The guys at one of the pay sites( I won't mention a name) said the other day that it was only natural that"players who were recruited  for teams that had a larger pay subscriber base would naturally get higher rankings". I swear to God, that is what was said. It's like because USF fans have a great free site and don't enroll as many subscribers as say FL, for instance, that our recruits wouldn't get the same number of stars. This was the explanation given when someone asked why a players ranking dropped when he went from FSU to USF.

Some information I got from Scouts for another thread...

Teams ranked in the top 30 with under 20 signings include:

#7 USC - 19 players 6 5star players and 10 4star players

#20 Ohio State - 18 players 1 5star player and 9 4star players

#21 Georgia - 18 players  1 5star and 9 4star players

#29 California - 2 5star players and 4 4star players

The difference between USF and these teams - history and been there done that.....

The positions we focused on are not valued as highly in stars.  These were the positions we needed.  There were only 36 4&5 star OTs in the class.  Also, thre was only 13 4&5 star OGs in the class.  The focus on Oline is what drove our rankings down.  There is a lot more to be considered than your recruiting ranking!
