Things to notice below: Obviously height and size differences but also location (Miami gets into Texas, Tenn, Iowa and Nebraska) Our extra $ in attendance this year should easily pay for recruiting trips outside of FL. Also one of UM's best lineman(Fox) did not even play Saturday night...geesh!

The question arises: How did the 3 teams that beat them (NC, VT, Clemson) as well as Wake (should have beat them) and Duke deal with the UM OL? I would guess most of these teams are equally sized to us. Makes you want to check out a replay and see what happened. Only thing obvious is that UM played pretty much mistake-free football. Only fumble was recovered by UM and we also dropped an int from Jaccory. A number of their players mentioned this was the first game all season they all played together.

The problem isn't merely that we were outsized, but that Leavitt and the coaching staff don't even REALIZE that we need size on the line.

There was an article before this season about our OLine freakin' dieting so as to be more athletic getting upfield blocking linebackers and the secondary when we move the pocket.

Unfortunately it doesn't quite work out when teams can rush four and pressure our QB into bad decisions, if not plant his facemask in the turf.

We need big fatties on the line, period. Preferably a few from cold climates that can go up to Pittsburgh and New Jersey and Cincinnati every year in the cold and get a push up front.

It has more to do with skill than size.  You are not in a good spot when you are starting 2 walk on's on your line.........

Skill is key.  But size does matter, and it was clear when we lined up we were the undersized team.

we outweighed rutgers d-line by 50lbs per man.

we rushed 32 times for 30 yards and were sacked 7 times.

bigger isn't always better. sometimes it's about scheme.

our d-line was built to defend against speed teams like WVU. we get bullied by more physical teams. Miami's o-line just looked good because they played to our weakness and ran it down our throats. coaches might want to adjust to that either in recruiting or schemes.

Miami o-line is not real good. they rank #91 in the country for sacks against and #66 in the country for rushing.

they gave up 5 sacks to wake forest and 6 sacks to UCF.

Leavitt obviously wants to get bigger O-Line.  The recruits have to cooperate as well.

Uh, that was LAST season.

Again, that's the same thing Leavitt said.

so his philosophy was to have them lose weight last season but now he wants them bigger?

You don't see a problem with that?

BTW UCF held Miami to 70 yards rushing on 46 carries and had 6 sacks.

that's not exactly a dominant o- line.
