Solid showing vs a normally stout Plant D. Just a kickoff classic but it really shows something.

I've heard Carnes has a lot of work to do academically to get eligible.

I've heard Carnes has a lot of work to do academically to get eligible. Seeing is believing. Just because a certain someone says so doesn't always make it the case. UGA has 19 commitments, and are still chasing 6-7 big time guys at other positions. It's rumored that UGA is probably capped at only signing around 22-23 players with so much returning. They are aboslutely stacked at the WR spot with 7 scholarship WR's that will be returning, and two currently committed, and they run more of a pro-set. Not to mention Ace is a great player, but he does lack elite speed, and is very tiny. They already have Wooten from Belle Glade in that position...I believe they're pushing for Dunkley, but will not slide down to take a much smaller, and slower Ace. At least that wouldn't be like UGA's staff lately who have always stuck with sure things.I just think that if UGA offers him it will be a considerable break from their trend. There are a lot of formations where they only run 2 WR's, and therefore having 7-8 is more than enough for UGA....whereas USF needs at least 10 with all the 4 and sometimes 5 receiver formations we run. In a pro-set a kid like Ace could get lost, and the team would need to completely dedicate an offense around that player...and I just don't think Ace has what a Ratavious Wooten, Dunkley, or Christian Green possess. Rather, it’s a weapon that can come at you from all sides, just as it came at Bayshore from all sides during the Hurricanes’ 45-0 win over Bayshore Friday at Joe Kinnan Field at Hawkins Stadium. And Manatee (1-0) didn’t waste any time: running back Mike Blakely sprinted 86 yards for a touchdown on the game’s second play from scrimmage. Three minutes later, Quenton Bundrage and quarterback Brion Carnes teamed for a 50-yard pass and catch. Mantee Brion Carnes holds on to the ball and dodges the Bayshore defense for extra yards. SPECIAL Two plays. Forty seconds. Fourteen points. It was a spurt that showed Manatee’s ability to run, catch and throw. “It’s nice to have a lot of people that you can give the ball to,†said Bundrage, a junior who pulled in a 21-yard touchdown less than four minutes after his first one. “Everyone on our offense can make plays — you can go to this guy, you can go to that guy...†They went to Ace Sanders (three catches, 72 yards, one touchdown). They went to Carnes (four passing touchdowns, one running touchdown). They went to Blakely (99 rushing yards). And they went to Craig Carnes (69 rushing yards), who had two consecutive rushing scores — both of which went for at least 75 yards — wiped away in the fourth quarter because of a pair of Manatee penalties. Sandwiched between those two was an 75-yard touchdown run by Blakely, also negated by a Manatee miscue. The penalties were made late in the fourth quarter and by the Hurricanes’ bench players. “The first half, we played really good,†said coach Joe Kinnan. “We shut them down...The defense improved a lot from last week.†It was a struggle for the Bruins (0-1), who routed Holiday Anclote during last week’s Kickoff Classic. “Plain and simple — last week, the kids had a high. This week, they had a low,†said Bruins coach Jean P. Gordon. “They know what both ends of the spectrum are. They know where they want to be.†Alex Jackson had 58 rushing yards for Bayshore, which squandered its best chance to score when Manatee’s Matt Austin blocked Jhonathan Bustos’ 37-yard field goal attempt with less than 27 seconds left in the first half. The play helped preserve Manatee’s second shutout of the Bruins since 2007. The Hurricanes head to Palmetto on Friday. Bayshore visits Port Charlotte. http://www.bradenton.com/breakingsports/story/1686862.html
