I may be wrong but I sure thought we brought more people than 8500 to the FAU away game in 2007.

This just proves that USF fans in the BIG EAST era will flock to in state games, be it FSU, FAU, FIU or UCF.  The jury is still out for our future road games at UM & UF, but those games will probably be in high demand as well.

To recap past in state road games (in the BIG EAST era):

  • FAU - we made their year attendance-wise.  They tried to cap our numbers, so USF fans went directly to Ticketmaster or FAU after tickets from USF sold out.
  • FIU - morons capped our seat limit, and would not sell single game tickets to the USF game unless people bought the whole season package.  USF section was full, but the rest of the stadium was empty.  That school has a joke of an athletic department administration
  • UCF - We showed up for the Citrus Bowl game in big numbers and so did their fans.  They tried to cap our seat limit for the Brighthouse Field game with the same "USF single game ticket requires full season package" like FIU (actually they did this before FIU), which was pathetic, but the attendance was good.  Maybe if they did not pull that nonsense with the single game tickets, then USF might be more apt to play them again.

while I agree that some moves like this are petty, just remember we did a very similar thing the last time we hosted the Gators in basketball. The least expensive way to get a ticket for that game was to buy a six game package.

No one is innocent of using these kind of opportunistic tactics imo -- but they suck for fans everywhere

Let's see what we do when FSU comes back here in 2012.

I think we will do similar to what they have done. Give them 8500 tix and the rest will be available for season tix until season starts and then open it up as part of three game packages.

Our goal would be to get most of those that we dont give to FSU to be bought as season tix holders or packages.

They will get a heck of a lot more seats at RayJay... because we have so few season ticket holders. Figure we'll have about 40,000 season tickets and students... leaving 25,000 seats to sell individually or give to FSU. We may have 10% of Doak... they will have 33% of RayJay.
